The appearance of a new rating from German rating organization USK suggests Borderlands Collection: Pandora’s Box may be releasing on Switch in the near future. The massive collection, which originally launched earlier this year, features nearly every game from the popular looter-shooter franchise with the recent Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands as a notable omission. The huge compilation saw an initial release in September, debuting on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Now, a new rumor suggests the compilation could be coming to Switch soon as well.

Nintendo’s handheld-home console hybrid has already become quite familiar with the Borderlands franchise with multiple releases on the Switch. The console already received the Borderlands Legendary Collection in 2020, featuring both of the first two main-series games as well as Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Borderlands 3 would also finally receive a Switch version last month, just over four years after the game’s initial launch. Now, Borderlands fans on Switch may have a massive helping of new content coming in the near future.

Borderlands 3 Confirms Switch Release Date

Gearbox Software and 2K officially announce the release date for Borderlands 3 on Nintendo Switch after years of speculation from fans.

As reported by Eurogamer, a recent update to German software rating organization USK has revealed a newfound rating for the Pandora’s Box compilation on Switch. The surprise rating comes as Gearbox Software has yet to announce an official release on Switch for the mega-collection of Borderlands games. The German Switch release would see the game given an “18” age rating, with the franchise typically carrying an M rating from the North American ESRB. The listing also reveals the classification for the game collection was filed in August, shortly following the initial announcement of the compilation.

The potential release of Borderlands Collection: Pandora’s Box on Switch would see two particular games in the franchise brought to the Switch for the first time. Both Tales from the Borderlands and its sequel, New Tales from the Borderlands, would see their first release on Switch as part of the compilation. The first of the Borderlands spinoff adventure games was developed in collaboration with Telltale Games, with New Tales from the Borderlands taken over by Gearbox following Telltale’s dissolution. The listing did not confirm an expected release date for Borderlands Collection: Pandora’s Box on the Switch.

While rumors circulate about the compilation’s status on the Switch, new leaks have suggested players may learn more about the future of the franchise soon. A leak from earlier this month related to the LinkedIn profile of a Gearbox employee suggested that Borderlands 4 could be in development alongside Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2. Rumors from earlier this year have even suggested Borderlands 4‘s release window may be coming sooner than expected, speculated to be sometime around 2026. A new release for the Pandora’s Box collection and new games on the horizon should spell exciting times to come for Borderlands fans.
