  • Fans have mixed reactions to the removal of rebuildable doors and walls in Black Ops 6 Zombies mode.
  • Content creators relate Black Ops 6 Zombies to previous successful titles, building anticipation for the upcoming release.

A popular Call of Duty content creator has claimed that the upcoming Black Ops 6 will be removing an iconic feature from the game’s Zombies mode. Although not officially confirmed by Activision or Treyarch Studios, it looks like Black Ops 6 Zombies will be removing the ability to barricade windows and doors, a feature that has been in every Call of Duty Zombies mode since its inception.

Thanks to a fresh trailer, we already know that Black Ops 6 Zombies will have some major new features, but Treyarch Studios appears to be taking the popular mode back to its roots with a heavy focus on round-based Zombies. Just recently, the Treyarch Zombies team said that Black Ops 6 is “purely focused” on creating the most rewarding round-based Zombies experience to date, with plenty of gameplay systems that will feel familiar to veteran players who have been around since the days of World at War.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Reveals Zombies Pre-Order Bonuses

Pre-order bonuses for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are officially confirmed following the grand reveal of the game’s newest Zombies map.

Despite promising a Zombies experience that will appeal to Call of Duty veterans, it looks like Black Ops 6 could be removing an iconic feature. According to ModernWarzone, who was invited for an early look at the game as well as get some hands-on time with it, they noticed that Black Ops 6 Zombies does not seem to feature any walls or doors that can be barricaded or rebuilt if destroyed. While there are plenty of returning features in Black Ops 6 Zombies, it looks like rebuildable doors and walls won’t be one of them.

Black Ops 6 Fans React to Removal of Iconic Feature

The removal of such an iconic Call of Duty Zombies feature hasn’t come as much of a surprise to fans who have played the mode in more recent entries like Black Ops Cold War or Modern Warfare 3, as many believe it has become somewhat redundant. In response to ModernWarzone’s post, Twitter user HiddenXperia said that Zombies hasn’t featured the more survival-centric gameplay that requires windows to be boarded up for quite some time. They went on to explain that they are “amazed” the feature stayed in for as long as it did. Others said it was “useless” and a “waste of time.”

Other content creators who have had the chance to go hands-on with Black Ops 6 Zombies say it feels like a combination of Black Ops 3 and Black Ops Cold War, which is good news for fans as many believe those two Call of Duty games to have the best Zombies mode. But there are still plenty more details to be revealed as Call of Duty: NEXT will give fans a deep dive into Liberty Falls, Black Ops 6‘s second Zombies map, on August 28.

For fans who can’t wait to see more of Black Ops 6, the upcoming shooter featured a massive leak at the beginning of August, revealing many of the game’s multiplayer maps, weapons, and more. Call of Duty fans were even given a look at what leakers claim to be the next Battle Royale map for Warzone, which is supposedly targeting a 2025 release date.
