A new rumor suggests that the first official Legend of Zelda LEGO set could be released this fall, modeled after the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. Nintendo and LEGO have had numerous partnerships over the past few years, with the interactive LEGO Super Mario Bros. line being a resounding success and a series of LEGO Animal Crossing sets hitting store shelves earlier this year. Naturally, fans have been speculating about other Nintendo franchises making the jump from games to building toys, and one of the most common names to come up has been The Legend of Zelda.

These fans have pitched their own concepts for LEGO sets based on iconic Legend of Zelda locations like Hyrule Castle on the LEGO Ideas website, as well as building models of Breath of the Wild’s Divine Beasts and Hyrule Kingdom. Rumors of a more official Zelda LEGO set themed after the Great Deku Tree started to crop up last year, with a recent leak adding credence to the claims back in January. However, nothing official has been confirmed by LEGO or Nintendo thus far.

A few days ago, LEGO leaker brick_clicker posted some alleged details about this supposed LEGO Zelda Great Deku Tree set on Instagram. Aside from backing up past rumors of the set containing 2,500 pieces and reportedly releasing in September, this newest leak hints that owners will be able to swap out leaves to change the Tree from its older incarnation in Ocarina of Time to the newer version from Breath of the Wild. Four LEGO minifigures are also said to be included: “Classic Link” (presumably his adult self from Ocarina of Time), Young Link, Breath of the Wild Link, and Breath of the Wild Zelda.

LEGO Zelda Great Deku Tree Could Be Coming In September

The Legend of Zelda series has many iconic locations and characters that would make for great LEGO sets, and the Great Deku Tree plays a big part in the lore of several Zelda games. In 1998’s Ocarina of Time, the Great Deku Tree is the guardian of the Kokiri and of their forest, and safeguards their great treasure, the Kokiri’s Emerald. He plays a similar role in The Wind Waker, and in Breath of the Wild the Great Deku Tree watches over the legendary Master Sword that Link needs to save Hyrule from Calamity Ganon.

Just like any other unconfirmed rumor, fans should take these latest claims of a LEGO Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree coming out on September 1 with a fair amount of skepticism for the time being. It also isn’t clear if this would be a simple one-off or the beginning of a larger line of LEGO Legend of Zelda sets to go along with the previous LEGO Super Mario Bros. and LEGO Animal Crossing lines, but Legend of Zelda players remain hopeful that they might be able to build and collect locations from Nintendo’s seminal RPG franchise someday.
