A Destiny 2 leaker has claimed to reveal additional details surrounding the game’s Into the Light update. The significant Destiny 2 event is expected to be released sometime in early April.
As fans await the delayed Final Shape expansion, which was pushed back to June, many are looking forward to Destiny 2‘s Into the Light update to hold them over in the meantime. The smaller (and free) content expansion has garnered plenty of speculation, with recent API leaks revealing some of its gear. Popular weapons from the game’s past, such as the Pinnacle Recluse SMG and Hammerhead machine gun, seem to be making a return with Into the Light.
Destiny 2 Update 7.3.5.1 Patch Notes Revealed
Bungie releases update 7.3.5.1 for Destiny 2, making a few changes to Guardian Games activities while also fixing issues related to the skimmer.
Reddit user Veracsflail1 took a screenshot of a Destiny 2 leaker’s Discord message, which outlined some of the update’s details. Liz, a leaker who has accurately shared Destiny 2 information in the past, claimed that Into the Light’s missions will take place on old planets, with a different planet being featured each week. The leaker also backed up the previously mentioned weapon leaks by saying that the Recluse and Hammerhead will be reissued and their ornaments will return to Eververse. Additionally, Liz said that other old weapons would be reissued with new perks, although they weren’t sure about specifics. After reading the leaks, fans were quick to share their hopes that Europa weapons, in particular, would receive interesting new perks with the future update.
New Leaks Regarding Destiny 2’s Into the Light Update
- Missions will take place on old planets, with a different planet being featured each week
- Recluse and Hammerhead will be reissued and their ornaments will return to Eververse
- Other old weapons will be reissued with new perks
Although it does line up with Destiny 2‘s recent API leak, this new information is not confirmed and fans should try to exercise caution for now. Bungie has yet to confirm an exact release date for Into the Light, although it’s heavily suspected to drop sometime in early April. Destiny 2 Director Joe Blackburn previously described the mini-expansion as being geared toward both veterans and new players, but other than leaks, not much else is known about the update.
Into the Light’s main purpose seems to be filling the long content gap until the release of Destiny 2‘s major The Final Shape expansion in June, which was originally slated to launch in February. The expansion can be pre-ordered for $50 and is expected to bring some major changes to Destiny 2 by ditching the seasonal model and adopting an episodic approach.
It’s possible that The Final Shape could be Destiny 2‘s last major expansion. Some have speculated that Bungie plans to continue with the update’s episodic approach well into the future, while others disagree that Destiny 2 would abandon its hype-building and sometimes lucrative yearly expansions.
