Seablip is a cozy yet entertaining indie adventure set in an open world where players will take to the life of a pirate — building a crew, upgrading their ship, and traversing an open sea to encounter new islands, uncover mysteries, and fend off enemy ships.

Just as many other games that feature fishing activities, this is a basic mechanic in Seablip and one of the most reliable ways to start securing yourself some easy and consistent Gold. This is especially true during the earlier stages of the game when you and your crew are just getting started. For this reason, knowing how to fish, as well as a few tips and tricks for the fishing minigame, will enable you to get the most value out of this activity.

How To Go Fishing In Seablip

In Seablip, players won’t need to wait very long to start fishing, as the fishing rod is one of the beginner tools you will have in your inventory upon initiating a new playthrough of the game. You can get to fishing as soon as you reach your new home island before you even set sail on the seas for the very first time.

To fish in Seablip, select the Fishing Rod from your toolbar and stand near a body of water. You don’t need to be at the edge of a dock, only standing on a surface that at least has a source of water running underneath it. Then, simply click and hold the left mouse button to time how far out you cast your fishing line. With a perfectly timed cast, you can even pick up treasure chests from the ocean floor, which can give you boosts of Gold.

After a moment, nearby fish will start to nibble on the line. Once you have a bite, a small meter will appear on the screen, with five small boxes that resemble a slot machine. To successfully reel in your fish, you will need to stop each box on the image of the fish, with each successful stop reeling the fish in one section of the bar closer to the goal.

If you land on one scissors box, you will have one ‘life’ left to try and finish reeling in the fish. However, if you roll two scissors, then the fishing line will snap, and you will lose the fish, causing you to cast again.

For most success, you should aim to rapidly click through each box, rather than stopping and trying to match each image. This is because, much of the time, five fish will be spun down at the same time, so if you can get enough clicks in during this window, you should be able to match all five of them, or at least four of them on the screen, and reel in your prize. You will then be able to sell these fish to markets for solid prices, which will enable you to earn quick Gold when choosing to trade in bulk. For this reason, you should invest in fishing whenever you have a spare moment in your day-to-day life sailing across the ocean.
