Nintendo may be infamous for their reluctance to provide deals to gamers, but this year things are different. There seems to be a new Switch console on the horizon, but who knows when that will arrive or how much it will cost? Currently, players can choose between three Switch consoles: the original Switch, the OLED Switch, and the Switch Lite.
Playing on the Switch means gaining access to an entire library of Mario content, along with other exclusives such as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Bayonetta 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and many more! There are already tons of games on sale for Black Friday, but does that mean players will get extra incentives to buy a Switch on Black Friday?
What Nintendo Switch Bundles Are Available on Black Friday?
Nintendo prepared for Black Friday by making a new Switch bundle available at an unbeatable price: the Mario Kart 8 + 3 Mo. Nintendo Switch Online Membership is currently $300. Likewise, the new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate + 3 Month Nintendo Switch Online Membership Switch OLED bundle was just made available at reasonable $350. They also recently announced new Animal Crossing themed Switch Lite consoles, adding to the plethora of colors already available.
On top of these new console additions, players can still get their hands on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Edition Switch, the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition OLED Switch, the Mario Red Edition OLED Switch, the Pokémon™ Scarlet & Violet Edition OLED, and the Splatoon 3 Special Edition OLED. There’s even a new joy-con bundle that includes a copy of Mario Party, which is perfect for family gatherings and other holiday events.
Should You Buy a Switch on Black Friday?
For many gamers, the short answer is yes. Players who are in the market for a Nintendo Switch should buy the Mario Kart 8 + 3 Mo. Nintendo Switch Online Membership bundle, as it’s listed at one of the lowest prices seen in recent memory. Even though it’s missing the newer OLED screen, the overall price is fair for the console itself, and doesn’t account for the $70 value of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a 3-month subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.
Other players who already own a Switch might still find buying a new Switch worthwhile, especially if their current one is damaged or tough to share in a busy household. Regardless of the reason, getting another Switch has rarely been as affordable as it is during Black Friday console deals.
Should You Upgrade to a Switch OLED During Black Friday Sales?
The Nintendo Switch OLED offers a much brighter screen than the original Switch, but the console does fall short in many ways. Most notably, the improvement in performance is too marginal to justify the raised price for a lot of gamers. However, there are other reasons to upgrade to an OLED model.
The OLED Switch console features a slightly bigger screen and the OLED technology makes it both brighter and more detailed. The dock is also a bit better than the original Switch, offering players a LAN port for more stable online gaming. Additionally, there are some limited editions of the Switch that are only available in the OLED version of the console.
Overall, players who mostly play in handheld mode, often play competitive online games, or who want a special edition Switch should upgrade to the Switch OLED model during Black Friday.
