Bethesda has released a new update for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – Special Edition, the enhanced version of its beloved open world RPG. The original version of Skyrim released all the way back in 2011 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. It was followed by the Special Edition, which launched in 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One and has since been ported to the Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
Bethesda has continued to support Skyrim – Special Edition with updates, including some rather substantial ones that have added new content to the game. Bethesda dropped a surprise Skyrim update at the end of 2023 that grouped the Mods and Creation Club menus into the unified Creations Menu, which proved to be controversial. Now the studio has released yet another update for Skyrim, with this one available to download now across all platforms.
Helpful Skyrim Exploit Still Works 13 Years Later
An extremely powerful Skyrim exploit that completely trivializes the game is still alive and well almost 13 years since the RPG’s release.
According to the patch notes for the latest Skyrim – Special Edition update, the right stick is now exclusively bound to the description field when using a controller, with search now bound to A instead of the Right Trigger. Various bugs have been addressed in the new update, including bouncing menu items, the download bar not rendering correctly, and a variety of bugs related to Skyrim‘s Creation content.
The new update also comes with some platform-specific improvements. For example, those playing Skyrim – Special Edition on the Epic Games Store should notice that the issue causing Creation Credits from displaying on a user’s account have now been resolved. Crashing issues tied to the Creations screen have been addressed when it comes to the PlayStation version of the game, while Xbox gamers should no longer have to worry about being kicked to the main menu when trying to download Survival Mode or Goldbrand.
For the most part, this new Skyrim update seems to be focused on ironing out lingering issues that came about from last month’s update. It’s possible that this new update will in turn have issues of its own that need fixed, but that remains to be seen. For now, Skyrim – Special Edition gamers can download the new update and hopefully enjoy a much smoother experience when it comes to engaging with the Creation content.
