Some Grand Theft Auto fans think they’ve spotted Lance Vance from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, or at least a character made to look like him, walking around in the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer. The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer was released recently and immediately broke YouTube records. With fans having had to wait so long to get their first glimpse of the highly-anticipated game, it’s really no surprise that the GTA 6 trailer is being torn apart and analyzed endlessly.
Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have found all kinds of details by hyper-analyzing the trailer. Small, but impressive GTA 6 details have been discovered from these efforts, and fan theories have been formed about what the trailer means for the game’s story. One of the leading theories is that the events in the GTA 6 trailer are backwards, suggesting that protagonist Lucia and her partner in crime robbing the store at the end of the trailer is actually one of the first things that happens in the game.
Grand Theft Auto 6’s Trailer Upholds a Beloved Rockstar Games Tradition
The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer is out, and it delivers exactly what fans wanted it to, with it upholding one particular Rockstar tradition very well.
One of the latest discoveries from the GTA 6 trailer points out a background character that looks suspiciously like Lance Vance from 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Twitter user Vinewood Motors pointed out a character walking in the background that appears to be dressed very similarly to Lance Vance, though this doesn’t mean that they are literally the same character. The more likely scenario is that this NPC is meant to be an homage to Lance Vance, or that their similarities are just a coincidence. After all, Lance Vance shouldn’t exist in the GTA 6 universe since it’s separate from the PS2-era games. Beyond that, GTA 6 is set in modern times, whereas Vice City was set in the 80s.
It would make sense for Rockstar to add Grand Theft Auto: Vice City-centric Easter eggs to Grand Theft Auto 6, though. After all, Grand Theft Auto 6 features Vice City as one of its major locations. Many GTA fans have fond memories of Vice City and would get a kick out of seeing nods to events and characters from that game. So while fans shouldn’t hold their breath that Lance Vance will literally be in Grand Theft Auto 6, the trailer suggests there’s a chance that they will run into characters that at least resemble him.
If previous Rockstar Games titles are any indication, Grand Theft Auto 6 will likely be stuffed with Easter eggs to discover. The GTA 6 open world is expected to be massive, and so it will likely take fans a significant amount of time to hunt them all down. They’ll get to start their Easter egg hunts when Grand Theft Auto 6 launches in 2025.
