There are a lot of games out there that have stretched into the Battle Royale sector. Ever since PUBG and Fortnite grew in popularity with their unique style of “last man standing” gameplay, other developers have been tossing their creations into the ring to help shake up the genre. So far, we’ve seen some pretty innovative releases help breathe new life into competitive Battle Royale and now creator MultiversalME Studios is looking to give Sci-Fi fans their own action survival space to duke it out. Their upcoming release, Space Battle Royale, will give players a chance to fly through the cosmos and take out rival ships with an array of weapons and power-ups. Here’s a look at what Battle Royale fans can expect from the release.
Zero-G Action For Up To 24 Players
In its current state, Space Battle Royale is set to roll out with Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, allowing up to 24 players to enter the arena and battle it out with one another for complete space supremacy. Gamers will strap into a specialized ship and use a variety of weapons to take down their foes. Developer MultiversalME Studios promises the flight controls will be easy to learn but difficult to master, taking hours of dedicated practice and learning to truly get an edge in the strange cube-like arena. This promises to appeal to both beginners and veteran players, creating an arena-based Battle Royale that’s accessible but still offers up a lot of skill-based gameplay for those looking to grind and shoot up the leaderboards.
Key Features
- Arena-based gameplay for up to 24 players.
- Traditional free-for-all Deathmatch or team-oriented Team Deathmatch
- Pilot ships or drones
- Five different and unique weapons to master
- Customizable ships via the hangar
- Five different battlegrounds
A Closer Look At The Weapons
As it stands, players will have access to five different weapons, each with their own unique playstyle as well as their own strengths and weaknesses. Weapons are classified on multiple scores including Weapon Power, Overall Speed, Ability To Dodge, and Ability To Coordinate. The weapons are split across Laser, Stun Gun, Rocket, Mine, and Rail Gun.
Five Stages To Battle On
At launch, Space Battle Royale will have five separate arenas for players to survive in. The Ice Zone is filled with an array of blue meteors, while the Crystal Infection sees green meteors covered in what looks like sharp glass-like spikes. Black Hammer looks more like a traditional asteroid field, which should be harder to navigate as the rocks match the inky black color of their cosmic background. Those craving something a bit more futuristic can do battle in the Scientific Laboratory, which features a space station to flank around and through. Finally, there’s the Fractal Zone, which is a giant cube filled with various tunnels and openings, really amping up the strategy of the gameplay, giving players plenty of cover to hide from enemies and dish out long-range damage.
Beginner-Friendly Shooter Gameplay
Thanks to its structure, Space Battle Royal promises to be easy to pick up and play. The general gameplay has players weaving around obstacles in a Zero-G environment, looking for enemy ships and blasting them with a variety of weapons to take them down. This makes it accessible to players that aren’t super familiar with competitive shooters. Past that, there is a layer of strategy that will see more experienced gamers dipping into cover, sliding through arenas, and using their piloting skills to get a tactical advantage over their enemies as they set up pincer attacks and flanks. This should help to create a gameplay loop that is rewarding to both types of players, without all of the additional fluff of “finding specific weapons” or adhering to a meta to survive.
An Exciting Launch Tournament
Those looking to really showcase their skills and hop into the fray with a truly competitive mindset can join a special upcoming Beta Tournament set to launch on November 16th. The tournament will see players battling against one another in the new Sci-Fi release for a chance to win $1500 in prizes, including some Steam Gift Cards. Those looking to scratch their competitive itch while learning the ins and outs of Space Battle Royale will definitely want to jump into this tournament, which will put even higher stakes on being the “last pilot standing.”
Those looking to get more information about the game can check out the developer’s dedicated website, and there is even a Steam page set up for MultiversalME Studios’ Space Battle Royale, which plans to drop on November 16th.
