Nintendo has revealed that the Summer Nights Splatfest for Splatoon 3 will take place the weekend of July 12. In these game-wide events, players pledge their allegiance to one of three teams and battle it out in Turf Wars to earn points for their side. At the end of the weekend, points are tallied, and one team is declared the winner. This marks the 17th Splatfest of Splatoon 3.

Nintendo announced the Summer Nights Splatfest back in May. Summer in Splatoon is already underway, with the three cities in the game being decorated with pool floaties, a tower of ice cream, and flowers leading up to the main event. Splatfests are one of the most beloved features of Splatoon, bringing the community together each time a new event is announced. Each of the three teams is represented by one of the members of Deep Cut, and the result of the Splatfest is determined by three factors: popularity, Conch Shells, and Clout. The team with the most votes gets 10 points, and the team that earns the most Conch Shells during the sneak peek before the Splatfest kicks off gets 10 points. Additionally, the team with the most Clout in Open/Tricolor Battles gets 15 points, and the team with the most Clout in Pro Battles gets 10 points. The team with the most points at the end of the Splatfest are victorious.

Splatoon 3’s July Splatfest Details

  • Splatfest runs from Friday, July 12 at 5 pm PT to Sunday, July 14 at 5 pm PT.
  • Players will be divided into three teams based on their answer to “Which would you reserve for a day?” with the answers being “palace,” “theme park,” and “beach.”

Frye’s team won in the last Splatfest, breaking a year-long losing streak. Prior to the May 2024 Splatfest, Frye last claimed victory during the Spicy vs Sweet vs Sour Splatfest of January 2023. While the goal of each Splatfest is for players to honestly choose an answer to the prompt, players often pick their team based on which Deep Cut member they like best. So far, Shiver has won eight Splatfests, Big Man has won six, and Frye has only come out victorious in two.

There have been rumors of a new Splatoon game being in development, meaning that the number of Splatoon 3‘s Splatfests may be numbered. Both Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 were influenced by the previous title’s final Splatfest, implying that the same is likely in the rumored fourth title. The final Splatfest of the first Splatoon set the Squid Sisters against each other, with Marie coming out victorious and given a large role in Splatoon 2‘s story. Splatoon 2‘s final Splatfest was Order vs Chaos, with Chaos winning, influencing Splatoon 3‘s theme. Fans of the series will have to hold out for more official information before they find out how their vote will affect the next game.
