Highlights

  • Greez Dritus’s role in a Jedi: Survivor sequel should go beyond being a sidekick, allowing his relationship with Cal to be tested and leading to character development.
  • Cere Junda, despite being slain, could continue to guide Cal as a Force ghost in a sequel, providing an opportunity to explore his struggle with the Dark Side.
  • Kata Akuna, the orphaned daughter of Bode Akuna, could be trained by Cal in the ways of the Force, as hinted by Cere’s final words in Jedi: Survivor. Merrin should also come back in Survivor’s sequel.

Fans of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and its predecessor, Jedi: Fallen Order, are eagerly anticipating more news of a sequel, as the game’s star, Cameron Monaghan, has confirmed a third game is in development. Jedi: Survivor continued the story of Cal Kestis, while adding some new characters to the roster, as well as a brand-new adventure full of new locations, Jedi skills for Cal, and relationships.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is full of compelling and lovable characters, many of which are difficult to forget after the credits roll. However, some shine a bit brighter than others in terms of what they contribute to the overarching narrative, and they would therefore serve as excellent additions to Jedi: Survivor‘s sequel. As such, these linchpin characters deserve the spotlight while talk of a Jedi: Survivor sequel continues to escalate, as each one of them should not be sidelined in the next installment.

Why the Next Star Wars Jedi Game is Likely to Feature a Huge Time Jump

Another Star Wars Jedi game is almost guaranteed to happen sooner or later, but when it does, fans might want to expect a big in-game time jump.

Greez Dritus

Greez Dritus is one of Cal’s most loyal companions in both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, and he has continually proven he will do anything for the young Jedi. However, it may be time for his role as little more than a trustworthy sidekick and pilot to transform in a Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sequel. Perhaps the full extent of how far he and Cal’s relationship is willing to be tested could be explored in a sequel, leading to more character development for Star Wars‘ Greez and Cal.

Cere Junda

Although Cere was slain in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, her Force ghost appeared to Cal at the end of the game and spoke to him. Despite having fallen, her character could continue to communicate with Cal in a sequel, guiding him through his newfound rage and tendencies toward the Dark Side. Cere has become a beloved character over the last two installments, so to sideline her now could be a mistake.

Kata Akuna

Kata Akuna is the daughter of Bode Akuna, a former Jedi Knight who became a close companion of Cal’s during Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. However, Bode betrays Cal and his friends for his own interests in the end, eventually resulting in his demise and the orphaning of his daughter, Kata. While it was not entirely confirmed, the assumption is that Cal will train Kata in the ways of the Force in a Star Wars Jedi threequel. After all, Cere did appear to Cal in Jedi: Survivor‘s final moments to say, “Cal, guide her through the darkness,” a statement that is believed to be in reference to Kata.

Merrin

Merrin was Star Wars Jedi: Survivor‘s breakout character, despite her appearance in Jedi: Fallen Order, and there is little reason why she shouldn’t be a prominent character in a sequel. As she and Cal grew much closer in Jedi: Survivor, especially romantically, she has now stepped into a role she wasn’t in before, where her relationship with Cal will ultimately determine what kind of Jedi he will be in a sequel. Her inclusion in a sequel would thus serve as an excellent character development opportunity for Cal, even more so than it did in Jedi: Survivor.

As the development of a Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sequel continues, it’s important that developer Respawn not only considers the characters that fans have grown to love but also those who have already had a lasting impact on the franchise and will likely continue to do so in future stories. Many of these characters have shown in the latest installment how worthy they are of more prominence in the next game, so the hope is that they are treated as such and given the roles they deserve.
