Highlights
- Luck impacts item loss when defeated in Stardew Valley, as evidenced by a player’s experience with a Lucky Lunch.
- Boosting luck with items like the Lucky Lunch can prevent the loss of valuable items and gold when defeated.
- Consider storing valuable items in a chest before leaving the farm, especially on days with poor luck, to avoid losing them.
A Stardew Valley player has noticed how luck impacts a particular element of the game, and it could save other players a lot of time and trouble. While luck doesn’t impact what players get out of Stardew Valley geodes, it plays several roles that can make or break a day in the game.
Stardew Valley players get their first hint that luck is important when they watch the TV on their farm for the first time. The game’s fortune teller tells players what their luck will be for the day. However, a player’s luck can be further modified using a variety of items, like luck-boosting food and equipment. Some players may not have expected it, but luck can make a big change in one of the most upsetting moments for Stardew Valley players.

Best Weapons In Stardew Valley, Ranked
Weapons are a huge aspect of Stardew Valley, even for a farming sim, and these are the best options.
Stardew Valley player AMK_Ultra shared their realization that their luck prevented them from losing even a single item after being knocked out in the game. Generally, players will lose a variety of gold and items from their backpack after being defeated. However, this player’s result screen shows that they actually lost nothing from their inventory and kept all their gold, too. According to the player, they had eaten a Lucky Lunch in Stardew Valley, which can offer a significant boost to a player’s luck for the day.
Stardew Valley players were pleasantly surprised to see this particular revelation. One player noted that it’s possible to lose no items if a player has inherent iridium-level luck and then boosts it further with food. Other players noted that on their lucky days, they were fortunate enough to only lose items with low value. In one case, a Stardew Valley player carrying dinosaur eggs and iridium only lost sap when they were defeated, while another only lost coal.
Protecting One’s Inventory When Defeated in Stardew Valley
Boosting one’s luck before heading into dangerous areas could make a difference in how many items a player loses when they die. It’s also a good idea to avoid going anywhere that might pose a lethal hazard to the player’s farmer when their luck for the day is inherently poor. However, Stardew Valley also added the ability to recover lost items in a recent update. Players can talk to Marlon in the Adventurer’s Guild to rescue one item that was lost from their inventory. However, players have to pay sell value for the item, so if at all possible, it’s preferable to not lose anything to begin with.
If a player’s luck is poor and they don’t have access to luck boosts, it’s a good idea to tuck away any valuable items in a chest before leaving the farm. While this won’t protect anything the farmer finds while they’re exploring, it can at least protect established resources gathered previously.
Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is a hit Indie release that spawned a cult following thanks to its similarities to titles like Harvest Moon and The Sims. Players will take control of their own characters as they are dropped into the eponymous Stardew Valley and given an old dilapidated farm. They’ll cultivate new crops and relationships with the NPCs scattered around the area, as well as combat monsters and embark on other quests.
