While crafting resources and surviving the islands you explore are the foundations on which Survival: Fountain of Youth are built, there is also a story that players can opt to follow. By following the game’s story missions, players will discover the truth about their captain, as well as the history of the islands and their inhabitants.

Players who have just begun their journey in Survival: Fountain of Youth may find it quite challenging at the start, given there are little resources and navigational tools at your disposal. The first major step to finding your feet on the Island of Hope is to recount the steps of your shipwrecked captain and work out how to find the Spyglass in Survival: Fountain of Youth.

How to Start Forgotten Spyglass in Survival: Fountain of Youth

Before players can embark on their journey through the remote islands in Survival: Fountain of Youth to find Columbus’ missing Spyglass, they must first find the Grotto that is mentioned in the drawing discovered at the start of the game. This is relatively easy to find, players will simply need to follow the coast to the left as they wash ashore, and enter the cave that has multiple palm trees around the entrance.

From there, players will discover the area where their Captain sought shelter when first arriving at the island, along with some notes that were written by the sailor. Players will need to interact with these notes until they find the one that recounts how the Captain dropped the spyglass gifted to him by Columbus, along with a map showing its location on the island.

Where To Find Columbus’ Spyglass in Survival: Fountain of Youth

From consulting the map provided by the Captain, players are able to determine if they are going in the right direction to the spyglass by first locating the great stone head that is marked on his map. This isn’t necessarily compulsory to finding the item, as players will likely come across the Spyglass if they continue in a northeastern direction from the Grotto (indicated by the red line in the image) until they find the coast. Once players have reached the coast, it is a matter of finding the foundations of a wooden house and locating the Spyglass right next to it.

In saying that, the map is not revealed at the start of the game, so players may want to first climb the Cartographer’s tree and draw the map before searching for the Spyglass. This action is encouraged and even taught in the opening stages of this mission, so players would benefit from venturing north to the first Cartographer’s Tree (indicated by the blue line in the image) before heading east to both the landmark and the destination. Not only is this crucial for navigation, but it will also reveal the location of resources, from common items like Big Branches to rarer materials like Clay.

Once players have acquired the Spyglass, the mission will be completed. It is then a good time to take a look around, as there is further evidence of the Captain’s visit to the area, including some additional quests that can be completed for rewards. Additionally, given the structure is already partially constructed, this is a good area to set up a shelter before finding a more suitable spot for a larger settlement.
