19 Bunny

An Effective And Cute Early-Game Option

Summoned with the Fuzzy Carrot item, the Bunny mount is an adorable addition to the game. It has top speeds of 40mph and is an excellent early-game mount for those looking to bounce from place to place.

At least when getting around short distances at ground level, the bunny can be useful. Not only are higher jumps granted, but fall damage is also wiped out, yielding greater, less dangerous mobility. This fuzzy mount is awarded to players once they have completed five of the Angler’s fishing quests.

18 Bee

A Mobile Bee-hemoth

The Bee mount is one of the best early mounts for Pre-Hardmode. Players can get the Honeyed Goggles from fighting the Queen Bee, located in hives within Jungle biomes. It has a 5% drop rate, so players may need to kill her several times before it drops. Fall damage is canceled with this humble bee even when walking.

The Bee mount can be paired with the Cloud in a Bottle item to get extra flight time and feel as though they are wearing wings! Be careful when around liquid though, as being in contact with it brings a quick dismount.

17 Book (Master Mode)

Flying In Style

While it may seem about as harmless as any item in the game, the Master Mode offering of the Book is among the most useful mounts in Terraria. At least, this is the case when it comes to getting around these vast and lush biomes.

Not unlike Aladdin‘s magic carpet, this small but mobile item allows players to hover across the skies (in limited fashion), while completely canceling fall damage. Items that yield multiple jumps like Cloud in a Bottle can bump up its fairly limited fixed height of eight tiles.

16 Flamingo

A Graceful Way To Travel By Water

This vibrant pink mount can be purchased from the Zoologist NPC for 20 Gold. The Flamingo mount can float or swim in water and is surprisingly fast, with a high acceleration!

However, the Mollusk Whistle can only be purchased once players have completed 25% of their Bestiary — the in-game catalog of Terraria‘s various creatures, including NPCs, critters, and bosses.

15 Golf Cart

Plows Through Onlookers In Vibrant Fashion

The Golf Cart Keys can be purchased from the Golfer NPC for 50 Gold. It has two prerequisites to be fulfilled before players can get their hands on these keys: Skeletron needs to be defeated, and players must have achieved a golf score of at least 2,000.

When driving, this mount deals summon damage to enemies when at full speed. It can also be a handy light source as it emits a cone of light in the direction the player is facing.

14 Slime

The Slimy Saddle sounds rather disgusting but it’s crucial for summoning this amusing mount. The item is loosed at a 25% drop rate by the King Slime, the boss of the Slime Rain event, and is needed to summon the Slime mount.

The classic Terraria Slime mount can float and jump quite high! This tamed bouncy ball will also damage any enemies that players hit.

13 Lilith’s Necklace (Wolf)

Become The Mount With This Magic Necklace

This Hardmode mount is especially unique in that it’s actually a summoning item which transforms the player into the mount, rather than simply having them ride one. Specifically, this magical piece of jewelry turns them into a swift wolf. Regarding the connection to Lilith and the wolf — this daughter of Redigit and Cenx was apparently quite fond of the animal; hence the jewel turning players into a wolf.

Running around as a wolf can be exhilarating, and very handy when traversing the endless 2D lands. That’s because players will be small (being only three tiles compared to, say, the Unicorn mount, which is five tiles tall) and quite agile.

Journey Mode characters will obtain this item automatically, provided they name themselves “Wolfpet” or “Wolf Pet”. Otherwise, the magic necklace can be obtained by slaying wolves. Specifically, they have only a 4% chance to drop the necklace, so players should prepare to go hunting for awhile.

12 Rudolph

A Fun And Festive Way To Get Around

Christmas can be all year round with this festive mount! Rudolph, summonable with the Reindeer Bells, is obtained from the Frost Moon event. It is a rare drop from the Ice Queen, one of the mini-bosses that spawn.

This iconic reindeer cancels any fall damage when mounted and has fast acceleration and flight (61), allowing players to zoom across the skies in no time!

11 Witch’s Broom

Take To The Skies Indefinitely

The Witch’s Broom is perfect for Halloween fans! It is dropped by the Mourning Wood during the Pumpkin Moon event It can fly infinitely and has a smaller hitbox, allowing players to squeeze their way through smaller spaces without dismounting. It boasts a particularly fast diagonal speed of 62. It’s not infallible, however, as it can’t descend through certain platorms featured.

The Witch’s Broom is limited to Expert-Only mode. For players who want the extra challenge, there is also a Master Mode for Terraria!

10 Scutlix

A Laser-Firing Beast

Scutlix is the perfect mount for any sci-fi fans out there. It is summonable with the Brain Scrambler item, dropped by a Scutlix Gunner with a 1% chance. Scutlix Gunners appear during the Hardmode Martian Madness invasion event, which is triggered by players being detected by an Alien probe in the Space layer of their world.

The Scutlix mount automatically fires lasers at enemies and has impressively swift movement speeds.

9 Drill

Extremely Handy Underground

This versatile mount allows players to mine and fly simultaneously, with a mining range of 15 titles; perfect for lazy players! The summon item, the Drill Containment Unit, needs to be crafted. It requires 160 Lumite, 600 Chlorophyte ore, 600 Glowing Mushrooms, 20 Ectoplasm, 120 of both Hellstone and Meteorite ore, and 40 Obsidian.

Players will need to have defeated the endgame boss, the Moon Lord, at least twice to obtain the required amount of Luminite ore, making it one of the best endgame mounts.

8 Winged Slime

Mobile And Jumpy

An upgrade to the earlier basic Slime mount, the Winged Slime, is obtained by defeating the Queen Slime.

The Winged Slime, summoned by the Gelatinous Pillon, is one of the better mounts in Hardmode. It can damage enemies if they are hopped on, and it can float in water. Its falling damage also clocks in at a solid 102, making it quite mobile for players looking to explore vertically. It also boasts quasi-flight, as it can hover horizontally.

7 Goat

Grabbing The Goat By The Horns

While it may not be the “Greatest of All Time”, this animalistic mount is a great option for scouring the fields and hilly terrain of Hardmore Terraria. It’s a great option for increased mobility on above-ground land, granting swift running speeds, a double jump ability, and greatly reducing fall damage. It also inflicts summong damage to targets in its way on full running speed — and it can gallop its way across terrain pretty quickly.

Players will need to dig deep to secure this intimidating mount, as the Wall of Flesh boss must be defeated, which drops the Goat Skull source required to summon this horned beast. It only has a 25% chance to drop, so players will want to come prepared to fight multiple rounds with this monstrosity.

6 Cute Fishron

Perfect For Taking On The Seas

This adorable flying fish mount is obtained by defeating Duke Fishron in Expert Mode, with a 100% drop chance, so players will only need to complete this fight once. It is summonable with the Shrimpy Truffle item.

Cute Fishron has infinite flight and has extra damage and movement bonuses when moving through liquid. Like most creatures of the water, it has a slower movement when on land.

5 UFO

Mobile And Stylish

The UFO is a slow-moving but mobile mount, ideal for fighting airborne bosses like the Lunatic Cultist or adding extra touches to player bases. It has infinite flight and dismounts when immersed in liquids.

The Cosmic Car Key has a 16% drop rate from the Martian Saucer, which spawns during the Hardmode Martian Madness event.

4 Unicorn

A Simple And Flashy Way To Get Around

The Unicorn mount is one of the fastest Hardmode mounts. Luckily for players, this majestic mount is also one of the easiest to obtain. Players simply need to farm the spawning unicorns in a Hallowed biome, which should eventually drop the Blessed Apple.

It grants invulnerability at high speeds and is incredibly fast. Players can also double-jump to hop over annoying terrain. Riders can take further advantage of its swiftness, as it deals summon damage to enemies in its path at full running speed. Fall damage is heavily reduced as well, allowing players to fly about with little worry on this mythical creature.

3 Santank

Blasting Naughty Foes At A Distance

Those who have viewed the Christmas film The Santa Clause will know that this isn’t the first concept that merges Santa with a total tank, but it’s certainly the coolest. Players can wreak holiday havoc on what’s essentially a ridable Santa-NK1.

While he’s a tough mini-boss to deal with, he’s worth taking out to get a chance at getting the Toy Tank. As of the 1.4 update, players have a 25% chance of obtaining this summoning item from him. Players will be treated to tons of added offense through its automatically firingprojectiles, along with a double jump and reduced fall damage.

2 Tree

A Fiery And Fast Mount

One wouldn’t usually associate trees with swiftness, but this dark variant blazes past these norms, with a super-fast run speed of 81. By comparison, the Pirate Ship, which is made for transportation, brings only 36 (horizontally).

Not only this, but the amorphic tree also inflicts summon damage to foes in its path while running at full speed, allowing players to blaze a trail quickly and effectively. It is not easy to summon, however, as it’s dropped only by the Mourning Wood in Master Mode at a 25% rate.

1 Pirate Ship

Perfect For Swift Plundering

This mount isn’t just thematically neat, but it’s one of the most useful mounts players can climb aboard. It gets around fairly quickly and effectively, with a whopping 91 diagonal speed and also yields infinite flight. But it’s also an offensive threat, dealing summon damage while at flight at full speed.

Players will likely have some tough skirmishes on their hands to get one, though. They’ll need to face off against the Flying Dutchman in Master Mode, with a 25% chance of dropping The Black Spot.
