The 30 Biggest Pokemon Ever (From Smallest To Largest)

When people see the designs of Pokemon, they often imagine them being very large. The truth is, though, that when looking at the Pokedex, many of them are not as big as they first appear. The beloved Pokemon anime has been known to take liberties with some of the sizes too, so players are naturally surprised to realize that a Pokemon such as Groudon is only 11 feet tall.

Gaze now upon the twenty-two biggest Pokemon in existence, though readers should try not to hurt their necks while looking up at them. All of these Pokemon are easily the height of two or three people, if not many, many more.

Some of these Pokemon surprisingly have made history as some of the largest Pokemon in the entire franchise. Still, the upcoming DLC for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will feature some new forms that will certainly stand tall among even the tallest Pokemon in the franchise. 30 Dhelmise (12 feet)

It’s Actually Small For An Anchor

By looking at Dhelmise, many Pokemon fans wouldn’t assume it’s one of the largest Pokemon in existence. However, its massive size mirrors real-life anchors, which often weigh 10 to 20 tons and are between 10 and 20 feet long. This actually puts Dhelmise on the smaller side of real-life anchors, being only 12 feet long and roughly 500 lbs in weight.

Introduced in Pokemon Sun & Moon, Dhelmise isn’t just an anchor, as it is also covered with seaweed, and its face is an oversized ship wheel. It also holds the honor of being one of the heaviest Ghost-type Pokemon in the entire franchise.

29 Dragonair (13 feet)

It Shrinks When It Evolves

It might be surprising that the Dragon-type Dragonair, from the very first generation of Pokemon games, is nearly twice as long as its evolution Dragonite. This is only the first of many differences between Dragonair and its evolution, which also misses the Pokemon’s purple color palette and blue orbs on its neck and tail.

Nevertheless, this places Dragonair in the unique position of being the only Pokemon in its evolutionary line among the biggest Pokemon of all time, mainly due to its incredible serpentine length.

28 Lunala (13 feet)

It’s Not The Moon, But It’s Still Huge

Lunala is the mascot legendary for Pokemon Moon, and the version counterpart to Solgaleo from Pokemon Sun. Both Lunala and Solgaleo are unique among Legendaries since they are evolved forms. The two evolve from the Psychic-type Cosmoem, who itself evolves from Cosmog.

Though it appears to be based off a bat, Lunala obviously takes most of its design inspiration from the moon, making its large size quite impressive when it takes to the sky.

27 Palkia (14 feet)

The Smallest Of Its Trio, But Perhaps The Strongest

Palkia, a member of the Creation Trio of legendary Pokemon, is coincidentally the shortest of the three. For whatever reason, controlling the fabric of space makes Palkia slightly less tall. Although it’s often not as beloved and remembered as either of the other two, it’s far from being a short king.

Palkia stacks up at just under 14 feet and is also tied for height with Dawn Wings Necrozma. It’s also a bit of a hunchback, so maybe if it had better posture it would be slightly bigger. Either way Palkia’s still incredibly powerful and is certainly a behemoth compared to many other Pokemon.

Palkia is Shield exclusive. Those with Sword will have to trade with a player that has Shield to get one. Not only that, but the Shield players only have access to Palkia if they have the Crown Tundra DLC. With the DLC, Palkia can be caught in Dynamax Adventures.

26 Cetitan (14 feet)

It’s Quite Cute For Its Size

Cetitan is the evolved form of Cetoddle, and both are among the few new Ice-type Pokemon available to catch in Scarlet and Violet. It is known for sharing its habitats with Avalugg, though Cetitan boasts much greater physical prowess than that Ice-type. Cetoddle and Cetitan are also the only Pokemon capable of learning Ice Spinner via leveling up.

Its design appears to be based on a beluga whale or narwhal, despite Cetitan and Cetoddle’s tendency to remain on land versus swimming. In Scarlet and Violet, Cetitans can be caught near Glaseado Mountain in the North Province of Paldea, as well as through Tera Raid battles. Its pre-evolution, Cetoddle, can also be found in West Province, Area Three, as well Dalizapa Passage, and evolves into Cetitan after being exposed to an Ice Stone.

25 Dudunsparce (14 feet)

Dunsparce’s “Long”-Awaited Evolution

At long last, the Normal-type Gen 2 Pokemon Dunsparce has received an evolution. Nevertheless, as almost a prank for hardcore Dunsparce fans, its evolution Dudunsparce just contains several more middle segments: two or three, depending on a 1/1000 chance upon evolving. However, Dudunsparce stands among the longest Pokemon in the franchise.

Although Dudunsparce’s 14 feet only applies to its 3-segment form, its 2-segment form is nothing to sneeze at either, growing up to 11 feet. Dudunsparce can only be encountered in the wild in Area Zero, which is only unlocked after completing all three storylines in Scarlet and Violet. Otherwise, Dudunsparce (particularly its Three-Segment Form) can only be found through evolving Dunsparce after it levels up while knowing Hyper Drill.

24 Primal Groudon (16 feet)

Omega Ruby Beefed Up Its Mascot

With its regular form standing at an impressive 11 feet tall, Groudon is already a fairly large Pokemon. When in its Primal form, however, Groudon grows to a mighty 16 feet, making it one of the twenty biggest Pokemon in the franchise. For context, that’s measurably taller than a double-decker bus, though only half the height of its Primal counterpart, Kyogre.

Together with Kyogre and Rayquaza, Groudon serves as a mascot for the third generation of Pokemon games and is one of the series’ super-ancient Pokemon. It’s said to be able to expand continents by lowering the sea level, which is part of the reason why Team Magma works so hard to track it down in Ruby, Emerald, and Omega Ruby.

23 Zygarde 50% (16 feet)

Even At 50%, Zygarde Is Massive

Interestingly enough, the incomplete form of Zygarde is actually nearly two feet taller than its Complete Forme. Serpent-like Pokemon tend to be considered taller than their bipedal or quadrupedal counterparts. It makes sense why the incomplete Zygarde is considered bigger, but it is still funny.

Zygarde, despite never getting the treatment of becoming a box legendary, is still a powerful Pokemon. It played a big role both in the anime and in a Sun and Moon sidequest involving collecting Zygarde cells. Most recently, Zygarde is the super boss of Dynamax Adventures, getting two phases in its battle.

22 Lugia (17 feet)

Lugia Is The Size Of A Private Plane

Lugia, the box legendary of Pokemon Silver and Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, has long been an iconic and familiar legendary. It’s the guardian of the seas, and this means it needs a body fit for navigating the ocean depths. Although it is still a bird of sorts, its serpent-like features give it some extra length.

Lugia’s height is about 17 feet on the dot, making it nearly four feet taller than Ho-Oh. Its wings are huge, allowing it to use its signature Aeroblast move. And yet, despite its connections to the ocean depths, it’s a Psychic-type.

21 Raging Bolt (17 feet)

Raikou’s New Form Touches The Clouds

Paradox Pokemon are a new addition to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, offering both past and future versions of already existing creatures. Raging Bolt, who is set to debut in the DLC expansion The Indigo Disk, is an alternate take on the Legendary Pokemon Raikou, sporting a giraffe-like long neck and a mustache shaped like clouds.

Thanks to this new design, Raikou now stands tall among the largest Pokemon in the game at 17 feet, and also sports a dual Electric/Dragon-typing. It’s a massive change from the more commonly-seen Raikou, who stands at about six feet tall.

20 Dialga (18 feet)

Its Control Over Time Isn’t The Only Thing That’s Big

The third member of the Creation Trio, Dialga, also makes it onto the list as one of the biggest Pokemon in the series’ history. Dialga has a much better posture than Palkia, standing with its head tall and a glorious crown of silver spikes adorning it. As a lord of time, it certainly deserves its terrifying, yet regal look.

Dialga clocks in at 17 feet and 9 inches, making it just a short step away from 18 feet tall. It’s a behemoth even compared to Palkia or Altered Forme Giratina, even if it gets dwarfed by Origin Forme Giratina. In its name, more people seemed to have been drawn to Pokemon Diamond, and Dialga’s cosmically commanding presence is a part of that.

19 Guzzlord (18 Feet)

It Takes A Huge Pokemon To Swallow Buildings

Most people can get a sense of what Guzzlord is all about just from its apt name. Known as the “Junkivore Pokemon,” Guzzlord is an Ultra Beast given the code name “UB-05 Glutton” for good reason: this beast has devoured mountains and buildings whole, while never having left any traceable droppings. Logically, one needs to be tall in order to swallow buildings, and 18 feet is a pretty good start.

Though it’s a rare and dangerous beast to the Earth, Pokemon Ultra Sun’s Pokedex entry notes it as a “Common organism in the world where it normally lives.”

18 Stakataka (18 Feet)

Is It A Pokemon Or Is It A Fortress?

Stakatake is exclusively available in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon when players are allowed a deeper look into Ultra Space. Ultra Sun’s Pokedex entry notes that it came from an Ultra Wormhole and is apparently “made up of many life-forms stacked one on top of each other.”

Since Stakataka is basically a living building, it has a massive base Defense stat of 211 and a terrible base Speed stat of 13. To be fair, buildings don’t usually tend to go places, especially not at a fast pace, either, so the low Speed stat definitely checks out.

17 Yveltal (19 Feet)

Yveltal’s Destruction Comes Easy At This Size

Introduced as Pokemon Y’s mascot, Yveltal is the Pokemon of Destruction, acting as a member of the aura trio along with Xerneas and Zygarde. With a full length of exactly 19 feet, Yveltal is able to absorb the life force of other living creatures when its wings and feathers are spread wide and glow red.

Pokemon Y’s Pokedex says that upon its life’s end, it “absorbs the life energy of every living thing and turns into a cocoon once more.” Yveltal cannot be caught in Sword and Shield or Scarlet and Violet, but the Pokemon can be traded in the former titles. The games it can be caught in include X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire.

16 Milotic (20 Feet)

Who Knew Feebas Had It In Them?

Coming in at a staggering 20 feet is the dazzling Milotic. This divine creature comes from the humble beginnings of a Feebas and evolves to be even taller than the legendary Pokemon of Destruction. While it is a large, snake-like Pokemon, it is known to be gentle, trying to calm people’s feelings.

While it is not legendary, Milotic has a fantastic move set and can easily hold its own in battle. The only hassle is jamming enough Pokeblocks or Poffins into a Feebas to get it to evolve. Many say that Milotic acts as a semi-counterpart to Gyarados, another serpentine Water-type Pokemon that towers over its competition. Milotic will be returning via The Teal Mask, the first DLC expansion for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

15 Hoopa Unbound (21 Feet)

Hoopa’s Alternate Form Lets Loose

Just one foot above Milotic is the legendary Hoopa in its Unbound form. Hoopa Unbound has the highest base Special Attack of all Dark-type Pokemon, and is tied with Mega Gyarados and Umbreon for the highest Special Defense stat of Dark-types.

Hoopa’s overall design seems to be based on Djinn (or genies) while its Unbound form resembles the six-armed Hindu deities known as Shakti. Equally likely is inspiration drawn from Taoist deity Nezha, known both as a trickster and protector of the world who also holds rings.

14 Mega Gyarados (21 Feet)

Gyarados Got An Upgrade In Gen VI

Tied with Hoopa Unbound for height is Mega Gyarados. Unlike Milotic, it is not a calm Pokemon at all. In fact, its Pokedex entry in Pokemon Sun reads “Mega Evolution also affects its brain, leaving no other function except its destructive instinct to burn everything to cinders.”

So, just to clarify, not only is Mega Gyarados very big, but it also has a dangerous personality to match. Luckily, the bond between Pokemon and Trainer is strong enough to stop Gyarados from losing control…usually.

13 Giratina Origin Forme (22 Feet)

The Distorion World Balloons Giratina

Giratina is only the only Ghost/Dragon-type to exist so far, and its uniqueness has fans clamoring for any news about its upcoming game remake. Giratina has a lot going for it, being a legendary that represents antimatter, rebellion, and general bad behavior (bad behavior that got it banned to the Distortion World by Arceus.)

Only in the Distortion World can Giratina naturally take its Origin Forme and become 22 feet tall. Among all legendary Pokemon, Giratina may not be the biggest, but it is definitely the edgiest.

12 Ultra Necrozma (24 Feet)

This Pokemon’s Shine Knows No Limits

Necrozma is a Pokemon with many different forms, each one with its own distinct height and weight. Interestingly, despite being almost twice as tall as its Dusk Mane counterpart, Ultra Necrozma weighs in at only half as much. That said, at 230 KG, it is still heavier than the likes of Onix and Regirock.

First introduced in gen 7, Necrozma is the mascot for both Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, making it one of only two Pokemon to have appeared on the box art of both skews of a Pokemon game (the other being Kyurem in Black 2 and White 2). It has four different types depending on fusions and is the third and final member of the Light trio.

11 Wishiwashi School Form (26 Feet)

All For One, And One For All

Wishiwashi is a bit of an enigma. At times, it can be one of the best Water-type Pokemon in the entire series, but there are others in which it is one of the very worst. It’s a little like Magikarp in that respect, though rather than its usefulness being determined by whether it has evolved yet, it’s decided by the form that Wishiwashi takes.

As well as being gigantic, Wishiwashi’s school form boasts a base stat total of 620, making it stronger than many Legendary Pokemon (on paper, at least), not to mention all nine of the pseudo-legendaries. Given that it reverts to its solo form once its HP falls below 25% though, it’s a risky Pokemon to include in one’s party, particularly in competitive play.
