Highlights

  • Dahl weapons in the Borderlands franchise have alternate firing modes, making them versatile in combat.
  • Many unique and legendary Dahl weapons in the games have additional talents, enhancing their power and usefulness.
  • The names and descriptions of specific Dahl weapons in Borderlands 3 highlight their unique features and capabilities, such as extreme damage output, debuff spreading, and increased critical hit damage.

Dahl weapons in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands the Pre-Sequel behave as burst-fire weapons, except only when fired while players are aiming down sights with the weapon. Borderlands 3 continued the trend of Dahl weapons having two separate firing modes, except players can manually switch between firing modes regardless of using the weapon’s scope in this Borderlands game.

Dahl weaponry doesn’t have much of a brand identity, at least among some of the more recognizable gimmicks associated with the different weapon manufacturers in the Borderlands franchise, but there are still plenty of powerful Dahl weapons in every Borderlands game. This is partly because most of the unique and legendary Dahl weapons have additional talents beyond Dahl’s signature burst-fire feature.

The Best S&S Weapons In Borderlands History

S&S Munitions brand weapons from the original Borderlands are known for offering some of the largest ammo capacities of any weapons in the game.

Dahl’s Strongest Weapons Throughout the Borderlands Franchise

Blood-Starved Beast

Projectiles from this SMG will either pierce an enemy or explode on contact for splash damage in whichever Elemental damage type that the weapon deals. Ultimately, the Blood-Starved Beast is considered to be one of the best DLC weapons in Borderlands 3, because of its extreme damage output.

Creeping Corruption

After scoring a kill, this weapon spreads the Corruption debuff to nearby targets which increases the damage they take, and this debuff can stack up to three times on an enemy. This weapon is another great tool for clearing crowds, but for bosses that spawn minions throughout the fight, the Creeping Corruption can even make short work of major boss enemies.

Dove

This legendary pistol from the original Borderlands doesn’t have any of the burst-fire features that Dahl weapons are associated with in the later games. Instead, what makes the Dove unique is that it doesn’t consume ammo when fired, so it effectively has unlimited ammo, proving to be a generous buildcrafting tool in the hands of any of the Borderlands’ playable vault hunters.

Fridgia

Fridgia is similar to the Lascaux SMG from Borderlands 2, which is one of the best early-game weapons, except the Fridgia is from Borderlands the Pre-Sequel, and slightly better. This SMG is always Cryo, and it shoots two bullets for every shot fired even when players ADS and shoot it in burst-fire mode. Although it’s not a legendary weapon, this weapon is further proof of the unwritten rule for Borderlands games that unique weapons can still be praiseworthy regardless.

Hail

This returning assault rifle was previously a Vladof brand weapon in the Borderlands franchise, except in Borderlands 3 it’s made by Dahl and consequently comes with an alternate burst-fire setting. While the Hail’s unusual downward-arcing projectiles can be difficult to land, this weapon deals increased critical hit damage and heals the wielder for a percentage of its damage, so in the hands of an experienced player it can be a reliable weapon.

Nemesis

Nemesis isn’t a very unique weapon as far as legendary weapons go, but it’s still among the strongest Dahl weapons in Borderlands 3. This legendary pistol shoots extremely fast no matter which firing mode players set it to, so it naturally deals a lot of damage and excels at applying elemental status effects.

Soulrender

The Soulrender is a powerful assault rifle on its own, and it also occasionally shoots homing projectiles that substantially increase the weapon’s overall damage output. Ultimately, the Soulrender is a reliable weapon without many flaws, and it’s often considered one of the best legendary assault rifles in Borderlands 3.

Wet Week

This weapon repeats a common theme in Borderlands the Pre-Sequel, where most of the non-legendary unique weapons are returning weapons from Borderlands 2, except with a slight rework and a new name. The Wet Week is the new and improved version of the Sloth, both being sniper rifles that feature a slow projectile velocity with the tradeoff being a much higher damage per shot compared to standard snipers.
