  • Bethesda admitted it revealed The Elder Scrolls 6 too soon, causing fan anticipation and speculation to dwindle over the years.
  • June 10, 2025 could be the day Bethesda finally provides an update on the game, reigniting excitement for the long-awaited sequel.
  • With pressure mounting on developers, fans hope for gameplay footage and a release date, but understand the need for patience.

It has now been six long years since Bethesda revealed the announcement trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6. Unfortunately, that trailer wasn’t much of a reveal, at all. The sneak peek of The Elder Scrolls 6 is a mere 37-second-long snippet that features an overhead view of a mountain-lined landscape and the game’s logo. Having that short of a trailer six years later has been agonizing for many who love The Elder Scrolls.

Bethesda is no stranger to taking its time in production, and although that can help guarantee a satisfying finished product, the announcement arrived a little too soon. Todd Howard himself has even admitted in the past that he and Bethesda were too quick to reveal the game, as the trailer drummed up a lot more hype than intended. When the first trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 dropped, the project was still in its infancy, and there have yet to be any more significant updates. However, next year presents the perfect chance for Bethesda to make up for lost time.

Bethesda has some tough choices to make for The Elder Scrolls 6 when deciding its setting, especially as it could make or break the game.

A Specific Date Can Have a Brand-New Meaning

The date of June 10, 2018 now lives on in infamy as the day The Elder Scrolls 6‘s announcement trailer was revealed to the masses. Since then, an onslaught of rumors and theories about The Elder Scrolls 6 have appeared on the internet. From the game’s setting to its story, Bethesda’s long-awaited Skyrim follow-up has had many foaming at the mouth for an inkling of confirmation.

However, June 10 could get an all-new meaning next year. Bethesda takes its dates seriously, and 2025 could present the developer with the opportunity to give June 10 a fresh meaning by revealing the next update on the same day it first announced the game. There are a variety of ways a new update could be handled. Whether through a new full-length trailer, a showcase, or even just a confirmation of the game’s deeper plot would be something meaningful for those who have been waiting for the next chapter in The Elder Scrolls franchise.

The best-case scenario would be for Bethesda to reveal an official release date for The Elder Scrolls 6, but any news would be good news at this point. With Todd Howard’s admission that Bethesda broke the news too soon, it’s likely that the studio is making sure that the time is absolutely right for a fresh update, and June 10 would offer the perfect stage to make that announcement.

The Flame of The Elder Scrolls 6 is Beginning to Dim

It’s been a pretty good year for Bethesda. With Starfield improving and the immense success of Amazon Prime’s Fallout streaming series revamping interest in the games, The Elder Scrolls 6 is in need of a kick as well. All the waiting and speculation has begun to take some of the wind out of the game’s sails. There is still plenty of anticipation, but the fervor is quickly beginning to dissipate, and Bethesda needs to keep all of its franchises afloat with excitement.

As of now, the future of The Elder Scrolls 6 is uncertain, but June 10, 2025 could be the chance for Bethesda to right its own wrongs. Gameplay footage and a release date would be ideal, but only if the game is truly ready to reveal more footage. Game development is no easy task, and the pressure developers are feeling must be immense, so that also needs to be considered. The Elder Scrolls 6 will reveal itself when the time is right, but that will hopefully be sooner rather than later.
