The Pros and Cons of Call of Duty’s Big Scorestreak Change

As the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 draws closer, more information about what players can expect is slowly being revealed. Black Ops 6 is aiming to make some substantial changes to the game, hopefully ending the franchise’s lackluster streak. Based on early previews, Black Ops 6 promises some fun espionage, but the game’s multiplayer is getting some big shake-ups, as well.

Instead of a player’s score resetting after death, Call of Duty has recently allowed participants to build upon their scorestreak throughout a match. This, of course, can cause a player to become incredibly overpowered, which ultimately ended up inspiring the change in Black Ops 6. One of the biggest pros of Black Ops 6 foregoing looping scorestreaks after a player’s death, is multiplayer balance. In recent years, Call of Duty‘s campaigns have been lacking, and even though Black Ops 6 looks promising, multiplayer will likely be the star. There is hope that Black Ops 6 will get the franchise back on track, but multiplayer has been the bread and butter of Call of Duty for a long time, now.

Thankfully, the campaign for Black Ops 6 looks to be a solid eight hours of story, as opposed to Modern Warfare 3‘s underwhelming five-hour story. However, it doesn’t matter how strong the game’s campaign is, Call of Duty has become synonymous with multiplayer gameplay, and scorestreaks play a major part in that experience. Keeping scorestreaks in Black Ops 6 from looping ultimately helps the issue of streak spam during a match. It can be fun to be the player using streak spam, but being on the receiving end can be a massive pain to deal with.

Stopping scorestreaks from looping after death is a big move for Black Ops 6, but it will make the multiplayer experience far more enjoyable in the long run. There are hopefully plenty of surprises in store for Black Ops 6, but seeing how a lack of looping scorestreak plays out will be one of the most intriguing changes coming to the series.

The Cons of Black Ops 6 Not Looping Scorestreaks

Scorestreaks looping after a player’s death was fun for players who were the ones continuously increasing their streaks. If players got a good head start with their streaks, it was easy to practically feel like a god when fighting against other players. Building an impressive scorestreak can really make a player a force to be reckoned with. Whether one earns enough points to gain a Combat Bow or a Chopper Gunner, looping scorestreaks make reaching this point far more attainable. As the release for Black Ops 6 draws closer, it will be fascinating to see how non-looping streaks affect how players approach playing multiplayer matches.

Only time will tell how regenerating scorestreaks after a player’s death works out. As of now, there are some high expectations for Black Ops 6, especially after the lukewarm reception to Modern Warfare 3. Non-looping scorestreaks will change the way some players experience the game’s multiplayer.
