While some players may have their gripes with the remake of Until Dawn, it still boasts an incredible story to tell. It will also reward players who manage to keep every character alive until the end of the game with a secret ending. However, while it can be very challenging to pull off this feat, it is incredibly easy for one to ensure the kill count is at an all-time peak.
This can be done by ensuring that all the game’s protagonists meet an untimely demise. If players make a mistake and someone does live, there are plenty of opportunities to try again.
How To Kill Everyone in Until Dawn
Here are some general rules that players should always keep in mind if they want to try to accomplish this on their own:
- Be sure to make bad decisions in general.
- Fail any and all quick time events.
- Fail every Don’t Move event.
This alone should do most of the work for you. However, below are some of the earliest instances and choices you can make to ensure you get your achievement/trophy for killing every character.
How to Kill Jess
Once the game enters its 4th chapter, the character count can start dropping — with Jess being the first candidate to meet her end. To kill Jess, you just need to keep Mike from effectively trying to save her. Players will be presented with 2 choices: safe and risky. Taking all the safe choices will slow Mike down, but if the player accidentally chooses a risky path, they will want to fail the quicktime events. Once Mike finds Jess, he will find her with a mutilated face.
How to Kill Matt
The next character you can kill off is Matt. This will come during Chapter 5, while he is confronted by a herd of reindeer. Strike the Reindeer with an axe and Matt will get shoved off the edge. Should you miss your opportunity, Matt can easily meet his end by failing quick time prompts while being pursued by the Wendigo.
How to Kill Chris & Emily
Nobody will die in chapters 6 or 7 so you are free to make whatever choices you want until Chapter 8. Just continue to fail every quick time event in Chapter 8 to check off both Emily and Chris. If you would rather take a more active approach in killing Emily, try to keep her alive for the opportunity to shoot her once Mike points a gun at her.
How to Kill Ashley
Chapter 9 will have Ashley become separated from the group and hear Jess calling for help. Investigate these noises and open the door to find not Jess, but the Wendigo. This will be the only death as you move on to Chapter 10.
How to Kill Josh
During Chapter 10, Mike and Sam will move through some water, follow the right wall and then go up the slope that Mike mentions. Do not climb up any ledges if Mike does not actively mention it. This will ensure you do not find the journal, and that Josh is killed. The last two characters are Sam and Mike, who could both be killed off next.
How to Kill Sam & Mike
Players will have the option to Save Mike or Run. Choose Save Mike and fail every following event. This will kill Sam and cause Mike to ignite the cabin with him still inside. Regardless of what outcome the player gets, there might be a sequel based on one of the game’s many endings.
