8 Best PvP Multiplayer Survival Games, Ranked

Those looking to survive with friends and against others will definitely want to check out these Multiplayer Survival titles.

The magic types are divided into Chaos, Blood, Storm, Illusion, Frost, and Unholy, and there are many builds you can try until you find the most suitable for your playstyle. This ranked list analyzes every magic type from weakest to strongest, considering power, PvP/PvE utility, effects, and possible builds.

6 Storm Magic

Fast And Good Against Single Targets – Not So Good In The Long Run

Storm Magic V Rising

  • Special Effect: Static
  • PvE Utility: Regular
  • PvP Utility: Good
  • Level 1 Spells: Cyclone, Discharge, Ball Lightning
  • Level 2 Spells: Polarity Shift, Lightning Curtain, Veil of Storm
  • Ultimate Spells: Raging Tempest, Eye of the Storm
  • Best weapon combo: Spears, Longbows, Longswords, Whips
  • Best blood type combo: Rogue, Draculin

Storm Magic is the weakest of all magic types for PvE since you will only unlock its full potential in late game, and it takes a lot of time to manage a reasonably good build for PvP, though its utility for PvP action is in second place in the PvP ranking. Its special effect is Static, which causes enemies to receive extra damage and become briefly stunned once they accumulate 3 charges.

This type of Magic has two extremely useful spells that combo well with each other: one is Polarity Shift, and the other is Bal Lightning. These two spells, combined with Veil of Storm and a Longsword, can confuse the enemy vampire and throw it directly on the AoE of Ball Lightning. Combine this with Raging Tempest or Eye of the Storm to cause even more static and stuns, and it’ll put the enemy players into disarray.

Sadly, there’s not much to say about its overall damage output — except that it is subpar and less effective for PvE activities. Plus, it’s harder to master than most magic types and requires time and patience to perfect its use. It is worth a try, though, if you enjoy speed and flashy moves. You can always respec your spells if the need arises.

5 Blood Magic

An Unbalanced Combo Of Support And Damage Abilities – Not Worth It In Late Game

Blood Magic V Rising

  • Special Effect: Leech
  • PvE Utility: Intermediate
  • PvP Utility: Low
  • Level 1 Spells: Blood Ritual, Blood Rage, Shadowbolt
  • Level 2 Spells: Blood Fountain, Veil of Blood, Sanguine Coil
  • Ultimate Spells: Crimson Beam, Heart Strike
  • Best weapon combo: Greatswords, Axes, Scythes
  • Best blood type combo: Creature, Brute

Blood Magic is the first type of vampire power you’ll get during your early hours in V Rising, and though many consider its regeneration passive, Leech, as one of the most broken in the game, it has been considerably nerfed in the 1.0 version of the game. What you get now is a spell tree with less damage and more support, intended to be some sort of team healing for PvP or endgame activities.

V Rising: Best Spells To Unlock First

There’s a plethora of spells in V Rising, and unlocking the best ones early can set you up for success later down the road.

The truth is that Blood Magic is subpar in the late game, and since many other magic types get healing and overshield in the late game, it’s just not good enough to be strong. However, it has solid utilities if you go with a melee build with a Scythe, Axe, or Greatsword, and it pairs finely with their disruptive weapon skills. Finally, Heart Strike is considerably the best Ultimate in the game, which by itself makes up for the subpar spell combo this magic type has.

4 Unholy Magic

Great For PvE, But Performs Poorly On PvP

Unholy Magic V Rising

  • Special Effect: Condemn
  • PvE Utility: Great
  • PvP Utility: Low
  • Level 1 Spells: Ward of the Damned, Corrupted Skull, Bone Explosion
  • Level 2 Spells: Veil of Bones, Soulburn, Death Knight
  • Ultimate Spells: Army of the Dead, Volatile Arachnid
  • Best weapon combo: Crossbow, Bow, Scythes
  • Best blood type combo: Scholar, Rogue

If you want to be a vampire necromancer, then this magic type is for you. Unholy is mainly strong in PvE, enabling you to clear huge waves of enemies, which is great when you need to clear Rifts in Mortium, and it also offers considerable protection against bosses.

Overall, its passive ability, Condemn, makes you cause more damage, and the enemies affected by it become skeletons when they die. Simple enough, and it allows you to deal more damage as you summon swarms of enemies. Army Of The Dead and Death Knight are also a killer combo for PvE.

Sadly, this magic type is not viable in PvP, since the two magic types that dominate that field are tremendously overpowered with their AoE and passives, and that counters your undead army all the time. There’s also the possibility to play the support role using Unholy, but it requires a lot of coordination with your team. Thankfully, the game has an integrated voice chat system, so it is possible to use this magic type in the support role with some team coordination.

3 Illusion Magic

Broken In Every Sense – Requires Skill, Though

Illusion Magic V Rising

  • Special Effect: Weaken/Phantasm
  • PvE Utility: Great
  • PvP Utility: High
  • Level 1 Spells: Wraith Spear, Spectral Wolf, Phantom Aegis
  • Level 2 Spells: Mist Trance, Veil of Illusion, Mosquito
  • Ultimate Spells: Spectral Guardian, Wisp Dance
  • Best weapon combo: Pistols, Whips, Swords, Crossbows, Bows
  • Best blood type combo: Scholar, Warrior

Illusion magic is the ultimate spam to win spell tree in V Rising. If you learn how to use it, it can save you from most situations and carry you through all the PvE content in the game. It has a dual passive, Weaken and Phantasm: casting spells on enemies weakens them, reducing their damage output, while also giving you charges of Phantasm, and each charge reduces the spell cooldown by 1% up to 10%, granting you chances to reset the last spell you cast.

What’s more, this magic type has many spells that grant overshield and healing when you pair them with the correct jewels. Spectral Wolf and Wraith Lance can both grant overshield and healing with Tier 3 jewels, making them into uber buff spells — while also causing slow on enemies. If you master this magic type, you can viciously spam spells in PvP from afar, and no one will be able to touch you thanks to Veil of Illusion and the most broken ultimate: Wisp Dance. Though it falls short on damage output, this is a completely broken spell tree if you know how to work through its lack of damage. Combine this with the Scholar Type blood, and you’ll be a spell machine gun in no time.

2 Chaos Magic

Burn And More Burn – Great AoE, Great Damage, Great Passive

Chaos Magic V Rising

  • Special Effect: Ignite
  • PvE Utility: Great
  • PvP Utility: Great
  • Level 1 Spells: Chaos Volley, Aftershock, Power Surge
  • Level 2 Spells: Void, Chaos Barrier, Veil of Chaos
  • Ultimate Spells: Merciless Charge, Chaos Barrage
  • Best weapon combo: Maces, Whips, Axes, Bows, Pistols
  • Best blood type combo: Scholar, Creature, Rogue

A Vampire playing with a matchbox is a force to be reckoned with, and more so if this comes with a brutally overpowered passive, incredible AoE coverage, slow effects, damage over time, and huge amounts of overall damage. The best thing about Chaos Magic is that you can choose to play it at short or long-range, since its burning effects won’t affect you or your allies.

Chaos Magic is guaranteed to cause fear among your enemies. Be it in PvE or PvP battles, these spells are incredibly useful. This magic type’s passive, Ignite, causes 50% damage over time of a spell’s base damage, and if you hit an ignited target, it causes a burst of damage in an AoE and a small slow effect. Void can be improved using jewels, and in Tier 3, it causes tremendous disruption in PvP battles. Aftershock is useful in early game stages, and Chaos Barrage is the Ultimate Spell that causes more damage. In the late game, when you have access to Legendary Weapons, this magic type becomes tremendously powerful.

1 Frost Magic

Freeze The World, Heal, Become Unstoppable

Frost Magic V Rising

  • Special Effect: Chill/Freeze
  • PvE Utility: Incredible
  • PvP Utility: Incredible
  • Level 1 Spells: Cold Snap, Ice Nova, Frost Bat
  • Level 2 Spells: Ice Barrier, Crystal Lance, Veil of Frost
  • Ultimate Spells: Artic Leap, Ice Block
  • Best weapon combo: Spears, Greatswords, Axes, Swords, Pistols
  • Best blood type combo: Warrior, Brute, Mutant

Frost magic is the best magic type in V Rising. It has a dual passive — Chill and Frost — which causes slow and total freeze on enemies. This is reduced on vampires (2 seconds max), and in enemies that are immune to Frost (like bosses), the spells deal 25% extra damage instead. But the goodness of Frost magic doesn’t end with its already overpowered passive.

When closing the distance with your enemy using Veil of Frost, you can trigger Chill or Frost on them with a melee or ranged blow. Then, you use Ice Nova to lock them in place, then Crystal Lance to finish them off with a killer move. If the battle turns the other way, you just need to encase yourself in ice using Ice Block, and you’ll heal most of the damage they caused you, also slowing down enemies in a wide area and applying Frost to already Chilled enemies.

Frost magic is primed for PvP, but it causes incredibly disruptive area damage for PvE as well, so it’s easily the best of the lot, with great passives, great AoE, great Crowd Control, and strong survivability.
