The vampire-themed base-building, blood hunting, and crafting game V Rising is a breath of fresh air for many gamers. There are no micro-transactions (apart from cosmetic DLCs), there are clear objectives, and the aesthetics are pleasing. Since it is a crafting game, the player must search the world for resources or create ways to harvest them at their bases instead. The Mourning Lily is just one of these resources.
Mourning Lilies are an integral part of the leveling process, used in potions that resist certain damage sources, like the sun or holy attacks. Against certain bosses, it’s quite fatal to attack without multiple potions active that counter such effects. But Mourning Lilies, unlike stone, blood essence, hides, or lumber, don’t just grow along the side of the road. Players hoping to find some by wandering on the paths and getting lucky will be in trouble. Unlike finding iron or sulfur, these only grow in particular locations. Thankfully, V Rising has a perfect spot to farm them up.

Here are the locations of all the Vampire Waygates in the expanded map of V Rising, following the game’s release from early access.
Updated August 1, 2024, by Juliet Childers: V Rising saw a full release in 2024 with adjusted armor sets, bosses, a new area to explore, and Dracula himself. The full update brought with it changes to existing recipes and materials, as well. Much like the other flowers and herbs in the game, the Mourning Lily can still drop as loot from monsters, be harvested in the wild, be bought from merchants, and be grown at a player’s base. Maximize stock by utilizing Mourning Lily Seeds and purchasing them from merchants when available (and the coin is, too). The game updates also added a new summoned creature called the Blood Treant that players can use to farm flowers like the Mourning Lily, too.
Where To Find Mourning Lilies
Think Dark Thoughts & Find Sad Flowers
- Players can reliably find Mourning Lilies at graveyards, cemeteries, and the Dunley Monastery.
- Only four recipes in V Rising utilize this flower.
- The flower can drop as loot from the Mantrap in Farbane Woods.
Players can find this flower while exploring the game world, just like any other flower. But Mourning Lilies typically only appear in places associated with death, such as graveyards. However, players can also loot them off the “Mantrap” monster that appears in Farbane Woods.
The early game requires players to repeatedly visit the same areas to farm these flowers, but in a few short levels, players should obtain more than a few seeds to begin harvesting their own Mourning Lilies using a garden at their bases. Thankfully, players can teleport with Mourning Lilies in their inventory, which is not the case for every item in the game.

What Recipes Use Mourning Lilies?
Unlike the Blood Rose, the Mourning Lily flower isn’t utilized in many recipes. However, players will need a steady supply of it to harvest Grave Dust from Ghouls and to make Minor Sun Resistance Brews in the early to mid game. Players in the starting area of Farbane Woods should be able to collect enough just by completing objectives to unlock better gear and castle structures.

How To Farm Mourning Lilies
Indulge In A Green Thumb For Maximum Profit
- Don’t fret too much about hoarding Mourning Lilies over other materials.
- It is easy to get seeds and harvest the flower repeatedly from the player’s base.
- In a pinch, players can find the flower at merchants in Farbane Woods and Dunley Farmlands.
Even new players quickly realize that the best way to farm flowers in V Rising is to grow their own at their bases. Of course, players can simply plant flowers for aesthetic purposes, too. But that isn’t the only way to get Mourning Lilies in V Rising. Here are the most common methods.
- Harvesting Mourning Lilies across the map at the locations mentioned above.
- Finding Mourning Lily Seeds and planting them at the player’s base to harvest as they grow (repeatedly).
- Purchasing Mourning Lilies from various merchants.

How To Get Mourning Lily Seeds
Though players can obtain seeds from their own flower gardens, that might not be enough for their needs. Instead, look for seeds as loot drops or as goods available from various merchants. At higher levels, players can summon Blood Treants from the Stygian Summoning Circle for 80 Plant Fibre and 400 Stygian Shards. These creatures drop 4–8 Seeds of various kinds, and may drop Saplings as well.
