World of Warcraft Classic just announced Phase 2 of Season of Discovery is set to begin on February 8. This new World of Warcraft update brings a new level cap, raid, and a bunch of new secrets to the Classic servers.

Season of Discovery is a new type of World of Warcraft experience that introduces twists to the Classic formula. Players can discover Runes that drastically change how each class plays, participate in a world PvPvE event in Ashenvale, and challenge the new Blackfathom Deeps raid. Each phase of Season of Discovery will increase the level cap on these World of Warcraft Classic servers, with the first one being set at 25.

The new 10-man raid in WoW SoD is the familiar Blackfathom Deeps, a place now rife with retuned bosses that demand new strategies.

Now, World of Warcraft has revealed the second phase of Season of Discovery is coming soon. On February 8, the next section of content for Season of Discovery will be unlocked, increasing the level cap from 25 to 40. Players will be able to unlock new runes, experience a new raid version of Gnomeregan from Classic WoW, and participate in a Stranglethorn Vale PvP event.

WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 2 Features

  • Level cap increase from 25 to 40
  • Gnomeregan raid dungeon
  • Stranglethorn Vale PvP event
  • New runes, abilities, and secrets for all classes

The announcement post on the official World of Warcraft Twitter account seems to suggest some other surprises in store as well. The short video shows a character in Stranglethorn Vale watching the sun as it quickly turns bright, bloody red. While this could just be a reference to the bloodshed to come in the new PvP event, it is also possible it could have a connection to a new secret. The endgame Zul’Gurub raid–and the origin of the infamous Blood Plague of Hakkar in World of Warcraft–is located in that zone, so the bloody sky could have some tie to the iconic raid boss in some way.

Regardless, Phase 2 is only the beginning of Season of Discovery’s journey this year. The World of Warcraft roadmap for 2024 revealed Classic Season of Discovery has at least four more phases planned: Phase 2 at level 40, Phase 3 at 50, and Phase 4 and 5 at 60. While fans can only speculate as to what secrets they might uncover in these various updates, considering how many surprises have been found in just the first phase of Season of Discovery, World of Warcraft Classic fans are likely in for a ride as the updates roll out.
