WWE 2K24 has officially confirmed the return of Bray Wyatt’s The Fiend to the game. While Bray Wyatt was part of WWE 2K23‘s DLC roster, The Fiend had only made appearances in two games, the universally panned WWE 2K20 and WWE Battlegrounds. As Wyatt returned to WWE in 2022 after being let go in 2021, he would debut a different character, signaling the end of The Fiend.

With Wyatt’s passing in 2023, the WWE games fan base had long requested that 2K release various Bray Wyatt incarnations as DLC for WWE 2K23. However, even with massive support, Wyatt’s only inclusion in that game was as his most recent character before he had passed away. Die-hard followers had a deeper appreciation for The Fiend because of the mystique the character held, not to mention the two Universal title reigns he had, as well as the history and creativity present. Now, WWE 2K24 fans will be in luck as The Fiend has officially been confirmed in the game.

One WWE 2K24 Showcase Match Sticks Out Like a Sore Thumb

There is a certain disparity in WWE 2K24’s 40 Years of WrestleMania Showcase mode that could and should be corrected post-launch.

WWE 2K24‘s official Twitter account uploaded a video of The Fiend’s full entrance in the game, officially confirming his inclusion. The comments section rejoiced as they paid tribute to the fallen WWE Superstar while also celebrating his return to the WWE games franchise. A few negative comments asked whether other mask variations for the character were available, but positive reactions were mostly thanking 2K for the inclusion. Some fans criticized the accuracy of the entrance lights as the character’s entrance usually had the arena dark, but most were hoping that this could be fixed before the official release. However, the character model looks to be completely different to WWE 2K20‘s The Fiend, with the hair seemingly updated among other things.

Fan Speculations About The Fiend’s Inclusion

Fan speculations were previously high since early previews of the 40 Years of WrestleMania mode’s video package included a shot of The Fiend pointing at the WrestleMania sign. Fans may remember that The Fiend went against John Cena at WrestleMania 36 in a Firefly Fun House match. While The Fiend did have a WrestleMania 37 match against Randy Orton, his gimmick at that time was a burnt mask, which this official reveal does not have. Therefore, fans are hoping that the Firefly Fun House match could be Wyatt’s reason for inclusion in the mode.

With WWE 2K24‘s release slowly inching closer, expectations are at a high. Not only is WWE 2K24 following in the footsteps of the successful WWE 2K23, but it is also building on the legacy that WWE 2K14 built with its 30 Years of WrestleMania. WWE 2K14 had arguably one of the best rosters of all time, with legends spanning from the 1980s and 1990s. Many fans are hoping that 2K does not simply rehash and reuse some of the matches from WWE 2K14. The Fiend’s reveal, as well as Muhammad Ali’s WWE 2K debut, may imply that a few new matches may be making their way to the franchise.
