Key Takeaways

  • Xbox Game Pass in 2024 has had some hits and misses, but September brings strong day-one launches like Age of Mythology: Retold.
  • Exciting new games like Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 are set to release in September 2024.
  • Even though there are legal restraints, games like The Plucky Squire and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster would be great additions to Game Pass.

2024 hasn’t been the best year for Xbox Game Pass, but it’s far from the worst. Every month, at least one day-one release has been added to Xbox Game Pass, and while some of these games have been a tad disappointing, a good handful have been more than worth the subscription’s price tag. This August has had some pretty nice first-party support, with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy being the latest Activision game to land on the service, and that support looks like it’ll only ramp up in September.

There are five games currently confirmed for Xbox Game Pass’ September 2024 line-up. Three of these – Age of Mythology: Retold, Frostpunk 2, and Ara: History Untold – are all day-one launches for Xbox Game Pass, meaning that strategy fans have a busy month ahead of them. But while that line-up is strong, Game Pass could always use a few more heavy hitters, and September has plenty of releases that would fit perfectly in the service’s library.

Xbox Game Pass New Games for September 2024 – Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions

Set to launch on September 3, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions looks like it could finally scratch that Quidditch itch after the mini-game’s no-show in Hogwarts Legacy. Fans can play on different Quidditch pitches around the world, suit up as some of the most iconic characters in the Harry Potter franchise, and customize their character with a range of unlockable cosmetics. Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will retail for around $30 at launch, but those subscribed to PlayStation Plus’ Essential tier will be able to claim the game for no extra charge. It would be great if Quidditch Champions could come to Game Pass at the same time.

Xbox Game Pass New Games for September 2024 – Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Releasing on September 9, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the surprisingly good 2011 third-person action game. In Space Marine 2, players take on the role of a titular super-soldier as they carve their way through hordes of Terminids and other Xenos threats. Along with a fully-fledged 12-hour campaign, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 will ship with an extensive co-op PvE mode, and a swathe of PvP modes, all of which feature customization and loadout systems. There’s virtually no chance of it happening, but it would be amazing to see Space Marine 2 come to Xbox Game Pass this coming month.

Xbox Game Pass New Games for September 2024 – The Plucky Squire

A puzzle-action game that blends 2D and 3D elements, The Plucky Squire could be the next Indie breakout hit, with its innovative gameplay mechanics and unique premise setting it up for success. Much like Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, The Plucky Squire will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers on launch day, though only for those subbed to the Extra or Premium tiers. Though there might be a sea of legal restraints and exclusivity deals stopping The Plucky Squire from launching on Xbox Game Pass on day one, it would be great to see it there regardless.

Xbox Game Pass New Games for September 2024 – Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Something that fans have wanted for quite some time, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster takes the 2006 zombie-slaughtering classic and gives it a fresh coat of paint, some new gameplay mechanics, and plenty of additional bells and whistles. Though it’s another unlikely get for Game Pass, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster would be a great pull for the subscription service this September.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the highest tier of Microsoft’s flagship game subscription service that offers over 100 game titles that you can play with a single purchase, making it one of the most outstanding value propositions of the Xbox ecosystem to date.
