Link has always been the hero in The Legend of Zelda games, but Echoes of Wisdom turns the tables with Princess Zelda as the main protagonist. At the beginning of Echoes of Wisdom, Link falls into a rift and is missing for the majority of the game. When you learn about the prime energy, the priestess, and the hero, you will receive two new story quests: “Lands of the Goddesses” and “Rescuing the Hero Link.” The latter quest will be resolved as you continue through Echoes of Wisdom‘s story.

Lands of the Goddesses is a story quest you’ll unlock at the halfway point of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

How to Complete

Zelda approaching Link from behind in Echoes of Wisdom

“Rescuing the Hero Link” is a story quest that will remain in the Adventure Log until the final dungeon in Echoes of Wisdom. You’ll need to complete “Lands of the Goddesses” before this one, so your first goal should be to get rid of the giant rifts in Eldin Volcano, Holy Mount Lanayru, and Faron Wetlands. After you’ve received all three sanctions from the goddesses, you’ll awaken in your room at Hyrule Castle. The one responsible for the rifts, Null, has created an Echo of Princess Zelda and plans to use it to claim the prime energy.

Go to Eternal Forest and speak with general Wright. You’ll then need to activate the monument and place Echoes of the Ancient Orb in the pedestals around the Eternal Forest. Doing so will open a path deeper into the forest, where you’ll meet the Great Deku Tree. Confront the fake Zelda, and the Triforce of Courage will open a gap to the Still World in search of Link. You will then have to traverse the Still World to fight the Echo Zelda. The easiest way to navigate the Still World is to use the Flying Tile Echo, but you’ll likely have to fight some enemies along the way. The final Still World has sections of each region you’ve visited, such as lava columns from Eldin and icy floors from Holy Mount Lanayru.

When you confront the Echo Zelda, you’ll also find Link trapped in a crystal prison. You should use your strongest Echoes in this battle, such as the Lynel or Lv. 3 monsters. You can also shoot the Echo Zelda while she’s in the air by using the Hero’s Bow. When she falls stunned, use Swordfigher Mode to get in as many hits as you can.

After the fight, use Swordfighter Mode and shoot an arrow at Link’s crystal prison. This will trigger a cutscene and “Rescuing the Hero Link” will be marked complete in your Adventure Log. You can then speak to Link to enter Null’s Body, the final dungeon in the game. However, doing so will cause Zelda to lose Swordfigher Mode, as she’ll return all of Link’s equipment. For the last stretch of the game, you’ll team up with Link and need to rely on your Echoes to fight.

How to Prepare for Final Dungeon

Might Crystals and Heart Pieces

If you haven’t already done so, you should fully upgrade Swordfighter Mode. This means getting a max energy bar (lv. 4) and upgrading the sword, bow, and bombs to level 3. If you’re missing Might Crystals, then leave the Still World and start working on any remaining side quests or minigames. You should also look around Hyrule, since many Might Crystals are hidden in tall grass or buried in the ground. If you have the Might Bell, equipping it will make it easier to track down Might Crystals.

Make sure you’ve done all 50 side quests and the minigames to get Heart Pieces. You should try to get max hearts before facing off against Null. It also won’t hurt to visit the Smoothie Shop and create smoothies using a Golden Egg as one of the ingredients. Golden smoothies heal 15+ hearts and can be combined with a Tough Mango to give Zelda some extra defense.

Accessories

  • Complete “Let’s Play a Game” and “Cotton-Candy Hunt” to get the Curious Charm. “Let’s Play a Game” is found at the Eastern Ruins in Eastern Hyrule Field. “Cotton-Candy Hunt” requires the completion of “Let’s Play a Game” and “A Rift in Faron Wetlands.” If you’ve done these already, then speak to the Deku Scrub near the totem pole by the well you used to escape the Scrubton prison. You’ll then need to track down the same monster you fought in “Let’s Play a Game,” only now, Smog has moved to the Faron Wetlands Ruins. To reach them, head north from the Deku Scrub’s house that was swallowed by the rift. The Curious Charm will reduce the damage that Zelda takes.
  • If you didn’t grab it before Jabul Waters Rift, you should purchase the Zora’s Flippers (350 Rupees) from the River Zora Village.
  • You can also do the quest “The Zora Child’s Fate” for the Zora Scale, which increases Zelda’s Dive Time. This side quest can be accepted by speaking to the River Zora child by the waterfall in the River Zora Village.

Power Up Tri

Another thing you should do is finish clearing up any remaining rifts. If you look at your map, you should be able to tell if there are small rifts remaining in Hyrule. These aren’t required to complete the game, but if you want to raise Tri’s level to 11, you’re going to need to do them. The optional rifts are:

  • * Stilled Carrot Patch
  • Stilled Northern Sanctuary
  • Stilled Lake Hylia
  • Stilled Hebra Mountain Passage
  • * Stilled Southern Hyrule Field
  • Stilled Eastern Zora River
  • Stilled Western Eldin Volcano
  • Stilled Lower Suthorn Forest
  • Stilled Heart Lake

* These rifts will only appear in side quests. The Carrot Patch spawns in “Impa’s Gift” and the Southern Hyrule Field rift appears in “From the Heart.”

Aside from Stilled Lake Hylia and Stilled Northern Sanctuary, all optional rifts can be completed after clearing “Still Missing” main quest. You’ll gain a small boost of experience and Might Crystals by completing the rifts.
