With the Zenless Zone Zero version 1.2 update, players were introduced to new characters from the Sons of Calydon faction, including Caesar and Burnice, both now playable. While Caesar serves as a versatile defense character, capable of buffing and stunning, Burnice plays a different role, specializing in applying Fire Anomaly—even while off-field. Her kit allows her to deal damage passively, which frees up space for an on-field character to take the spotlight while ensuring anomaly build-up. This versatility opens up numerous team composition possibilities for Burnice.

Here’s a quick guide covering all the challenges related to Officer Mewmew in the Blazewood area of Zenless Zone Zero.

In general, Burnice benefits most from being paired with another Anomaly character or a teammate from the same faction for synergistic bonuses. However, she can also fit into more diverse teams that don’t focus on Anomaly builds. Here are some of the best team compositions for Burnice.

Jane Doe + Burnice + Caesar (Red Moccus)

Jane Doe + Burnice + Caesar

Considering Jane Doe is one of the few characters who thrives in a Disorder playstyle by applying two different anomalies to enemies, Burnice becomes one of her best teammates. Unlike previous options, Burnice can efficiently build Anomaly effects even while off-field, enhancing Jane’s damage potential. When paired with a top-tier defensive and buffing unit like Caesar, this team gains even more resilience. Caesar ensures the team stays at high HP, even in challenging content, reducing the need for constant dodging.

However, it’s important to note that assembling a team with three limited-banner characters (Jane, Burnice, and Caesar) can be quite a significant investment, which may not be accessible to many players. Fortunately, Jane is a powerful DPS unit even without Caesar. In more budget-friendly setups, players can replace Caesar with support units like Seth, who still provide ample defensive utility. In such cases, it’s recommended to pair Seth with Officer Cui rather than Red Moccus to better synergize with Bangboo setups.

Team Roles

  • Jane Doe: DPS, Assault Buildup
  • Burnice: Sub-DPS, Burn Buildup
  • Caesar: DMG mitigation, buffer, debuffer, stun

Soldier 11 + Burnice + Lucy (Rocketboo)

Soldier 11 + Burnice + Lucy

Players who enjoy using Soldier 11 will now have an even more synergistic team with Burnice, replacing her previous best teammate, Koleda. While this setup isn’t necessarily anomaly-focused, it excels in leveraging Soldier 11’s best Drive Disc, Inferno Metal, which requires Burn to be applied to enemies to further boost Soldier 11’s Crit.

With this team composition, players can create an effective mono-Fire team, consistently applying Fire DMG and rapidly inflicting Burn on enemies. This was previously a challenge with Koleda, whose kit wasn’t as reliable in Burn buildup. The synergy becomes even more potent if players also have higher Mindscapes of Lucy, further enhancing this team composition. It’s worth noting that, players could essentially swap Lucy with Koleda if they don’t mind losing the ATK buff that benefits more Burnice and Soldier 11, or even Caesar for stronger buffs, while forgo-ing a little on the Burn Buildup.

Team Roles

  • Soldier 11: DPS
  • Burnice: Sub-DPS, Burn Buildup
  • Lucy: Support

Piper + Burnice + Lucy (Red Moccus)

Players seeking a more F2P-friendly setup with a similar playstyle to the Jane Doe team can make good use of Piper and Lucy alongside Burnice, both of whom belong to the Sons of Calydon faction. While Piper’s damage potential isn’t as high as Jane Doe’s, she still serves as a strong on-field DPS character, consistently applying Burn and Assault Disorders to benefit the team.

It’s worth noting that as with the previous team compositions, if players have access to Caesar, they can replace Lucy to significantly boost the team’s survivability and buffs, which will also greatly enhance Piper’s performance.

Team Roles

  • Piper: DPS, Assault Buildup
  • Burnice: Sub-DPS, Burn Buildup
  • Lucy: Support

Grace + Burnice + Rina (Plugboo)

Grace + Burnice + Rina

A solid duo Anomaly team composition for players to consider features Grace, who might not come to mind as quickly as other options when building an Anomaly-focused team with Burnice. However, this setup functions similarly to other Anomaly compositions, with Grace taking Jane Doe’s spot and Rina stepping in for a support character like Lucy. Grace excels as an on-field Anomaly user, making this team particularly useful for content with Electric and Fire weaknesses, or even just Electric weakness. Burnice provides off-field support, effectively boosting the team’s DPS by allowing Grace to focus on dealing damage while Burnice applies Fire Anomaly. This synergy can make a significant difference in challenging endgame content, especially when tackling the DPS check and time limits in difficult stages like Shiyu Defense.

Rina also adds considerable value to this composition by providing a unique team-wide PEN Ratio buff, which complements Anomaly characters well, as PEN Ratio is one of the key stats they benefit from, alongside Anomaly Mastery and Proficiency. If players already have Grace and Rina, both Standard S-Rank characters, this composition is definitely worth trying, even though it may seem less straightforward or synergistic than other options at first glance.

  • Grace: DPS, Shock Buildup
  • Burnice: Sub-DPS, Burn Buildup
  • Rina: Support

Don’t go into the Hollows.
I know, I know, there’s Ether in the Hollows, bizarre creations, even heritage of the old civilization, all precious treasures. But don’t forget, there’s also spatial disorder, monsters and mutants running rampant, and ultimately, a disaster that could swallow the world. They are not a place where ordinary people should go.
So don’t go into Hollows.
Or at least, don’t go in alone.
If you insist on getting into danger, go to New Eridu first.
This city where the good and the bad mix has many people who need the Hollows: Powerful wealthy tycoons, gangs that stalk the streets, conspiracy nuts, and ruthless officials.
Make your preparations there, find strong allies, and most importantly—
Find a “Proxy”.
Only they can guide people out of the maze-like Hollows.
Good luck!
