Highlights

  • Kamen Rider Cronus possesses control over time in game areas, making him powerful against other Riders within those areas.
  • Kamen Rider Odin has the ability to control time in the Mirror World, making him the strongest Rider in Kamen Rider Ryuki.
  • Kamen Rider Den-O, as a singularity point, has paradox immunity and the power of time and dimensional travel, but can still be affected by other temporal anomalies.

Every Kamen Rider is often a protagonist on a mission to save the world against impending doom, with their one-man task rather tricky compared to a team of Power Rangers who can use the power of friendship and their Zords to protect Earth. This distinction is intended, however, as unlike Power Rangers and even their Super Sentai counterparts, a Kamen Rider’s story usually centers around a person coming out of adversity as a better individual.

With more than 35 series under the Kamen Rider slate, this journey to overcome hardship has resulted in Kamen Rider protagonists having alternate forms, super forms, and even final forms to demonstrate their character’s growth. However, which among Kamen Rider protagonists proves to be much stronger than their other series counterparts?

10 Kamen Rider Cronus

Control Time In Game Areas

Kamen Rider Cronus

First Appearance Ex-Aid, Episode 32
Real Name Dan Masamune
Powerset Game Programming, Chronokinesis
Weakness Affects in-game only

Who better to possess the powers of the strongest Bug Buster in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid than its creator? Compared to the other Bug Busters, Dan Masamune reserved the best tech for his usage, as his transformation into Kamen Rider Cronus practically gives him control over time. This makes him powerful enough to defeat all other Riders save for Ex-Aid’s plot armor, courtesy of the Muteki Gamer form.

Sans Ex-Aid’s protagonist powers in the tokusatsu show, Kamen Rider Cronus’s strength only applies within fights in Game Areas, as his temporal manipulation only affects these areas. Destroying the clock that appears behind him also cancels out his temporal abilities.

9 Kamen Rider Odin

Control Time In Mirror World

Kamen Rider Odin

First Appearance Ryuki, Episode 3
Real Name N/A
Powerset Phoenix, Chronokinesis
Weakness Affects Mirror World only

Unlike other Kamen Rider series at the time, the strongest Rider in Kamen Rider Ryuki wasn’t its titular hero but rather its main antagonist. Thought to be the dead Shiro Kanzaki, Kamen Rider Odin turned out to be the all-powerful avatar he created to represent himself in the Rider War in the Mirror World. Any Kamen Rider who defeats Kamen Rider Odin will have their wish granted.

The phoenix-motif Rider boasts the highest-valued attack cards among Advent Decks, with the warrior reversing the gravest of injuries with Time Vent. When used as Kanzaki’s avatar, Odin easily becomes the most powerful being in their universe – at least in the Mirror World.

8 Kamen Rider Den-O

Singularity Point Grants Paradox Immunity, Time Travel

Kamen Rider Den-O

First Appearance Den-O, Episode 1
Real Name Ryotaro Nogami
Powerset Personality-based Abilities, Time/Dimensional Travel
Weakness Can be affected by other temporal anomalies

When Ryotaro Nogami stumbles upon the DenLiner in Kamen Rider Den-O, he’s assigned the role of the protector of time and space as Kamen Rider Den-O. As the titular Rider, Ryotaro’s main goal is to travel across time to stop the Imagin from the future to alter the past. What perhaps makes Kamen Den-O a special case in his tokusatsu series isn’t tied to his Rider Powers but instead his genetic make-up.

It’s discovered that Ryotaro Nogami is actually a Singularity Point, securing immunity from time paradoxes that affect his direct timeline. Theoretically, time-travelers who enter his dimension shouldn’t be able to affect him with any temporal anomalies. However, it’s shown that Kamen Rider Den-O isn’t entirely immune from other time-traveling effects, such as from the likes of Kamen Rider Zi-O.

7 Kamen Rider Hyper Kabuto

Hyper Clock-Up Facilitates Time Travel, Willed His Final Form To Existence

Kamen Rider Hyper Kabuto

First Appearance Kabuto, Episode 1
Real Name Souji Tendo
Powerset Kabuto, Super Speed, Time Travel
Weakness Can be affected by time alternations

Ever the grandma-quoting beacon of awesomeness, Souji Tendo never fails to create a spectacle whenever he becomes Kamen Rider Kabuto. However, his ultimate power as a Rider shines when a losing situation has him “will” the Hyper Zecter into existence, allowing him to become Kamen Rider Hyper Kabuto alongside Hyper Clock-Up, a speed-boosting Clock-Up that can go faster than light.

The series is quick to showcase Hyper Clock-Up allowing its users to reverse the flow of time and travel to the future. Moreover, it’s theorized that Future Souji sent the Hyper Zecter back in time to help his younger self acquire the form, creating a bootstrap paradox. Time-traveling powers aside, it seems Kamen Rider Hyper Kabuto isn’t immune to time alterations.

6 Kamen Rider Xross Saber

Sword Of Creation Can Rewrite Reality

Kamen Rider Xross Saber

First Appearance Saber, Episode 38
Real Name Touma Kamiyama
Powerset All Wonder Ride Books, Creation, Reversing Destruction
Weakness Hard to control

Despite being amnesiac, Touma Kamiyama of the tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Saber retains an immense desire to be a novelist. And when he proclaims that the power of books to change the world should be directed to happiness, he becomes Kamen Rider Saber.

When faced with the power of destruction of Kamen Rider Solomon, Touma’s friends lend him his powers to become Kamen Rider Xross Saber. Armed with the Sword of Creation, this form not only counters Solomon’s destructive capabilities but also rewrites reality. However, Saber’s initial self-sacrifice to save the world by rewriting it with the sword means he’s not in control of the ability.

5 Kamen Rider Gaim Kiwami Arms

Man Of The Beginning Can Recreate The World

Kiwami Arms

First Appearance Gaim, Episode 32
Real Name Kouta Kazuraba
Powerset Fruits, All Lockseeds, Reality Manipulation
Weakness Can still be affected by time travel

When Kouta Kazuraba obtained the Orange Lockseed and Sengoku Driver, he was thrust into the role of fighting the Inves as Kamen Rider Gaim. In his journey, Kouta’s conflict with shady figures forces him to eat the Golden Fruit to become the First Man of the Beginning. This Fruit is directly tied to his final form, the Kiwami Arms.

RELATED: Power Rangers: Best Red Rangers, Ranked

Although his Kiwami Arms simply allows him to use upgraded versions of all Lockseed Weapons, its real strength is tied to becoming an extension of Kouta’s will. As the Man of the Beginning, Kouta has reality-warping powers that transcend the laws of physics. However, it’s implied that his degree of manipulation is limited only to his local reality.

4 Kamen Rider Woz

Exists Outside Time, Can Edit The Future, Access Future Rider Powers

Kamen Rider Woz

First Appearance Zi-O, Episode 1
Real Name Woz
Powerset Future Kamen Riders, Time Travel, Future Alteration, Time Independence
Weakness Future Kamen Riders left, timeline erasure

Being a Quartzer from the future, Woz in Kamen Rider Zi-O travels back in time to ensure the younger counterpart of his overlord Ohma Zi-O becomes the ruler he’s destined to be. Woz naturally possesses the ability to travel in time, has knowledge of previous Riders, and possesses the Future Note that can manipulate future events.

However, Kamen Rider Woz is potentially one of the most powerful Riders in existence courtesy of his Beyondriver. Unlike Kamen Riders Zi-O and Geiz, Woz specializes in using the powers of future Kamen Riders. Moreover, it’s revealed that Woz exists independently of time, rendering temporal manipulation against him useless. Woz’s only weakness may be the number of Kamen Riders left to be created, and if someone erases Kamen Riders from existence.

3 Kamen Rider GeatsIX

Reality Manipulation To The Extent Of Immunity Against Temporal Effects

Kamen Rider GeatsIX

First Appearance Geats, Episode 38
Real Name Ace Ukiyo
Powerset Fox, Reality Manipulation
Weakness Power overwrite

While Ace Ukiyo’s confidence allows him to win most of his fights as Kamen Rider Geats, it’s soon revealed that this identity is just one of many reincarnations that plan on winning the Desire Grand Prix to reunite with his missing mother. It’s soon revealed that his mother left him after she’s forcibly transformed into the Goddess of Creation, thereby endowing a similar powerset to Ace.

In the story, Ace manages to access these powers in full via the Kamen Rider GeatsIX form, his fox-themed transformation courtesy of the Boost MarkIX buckles. Through this form, Ace can channel his divine powers that allow him to bend reality to his desires. This reality manipulation extends to his reincarnation, matter creation, world resets, and even resistance to similar powers. Since giving up his mortal body, Ace also gained immunity to time manipulation effects. However, GeatsIX may still be affected by power overwrite effects.

2 Kamen Rider Decade

Always Gets Access To Past And Future Rider Powers

Kamen Rider Decade

First Appearance Decade, Episode 1
Real Name Tsukasa Kadoya
Powerset Kamen Rider Powers, Time Travel
Weakness Theoretical power overwrite

When a disaster forces Tsukasa Kadoya to travel across timelines and borrow the powers of Kamen Riders before him, his journey as Kamen Rider Decade will cement him as perhaps the most powerful Kamen Rider in existence. Courtesy of his DecaDriver, he can access not just the base forms of other Kamen Riders but also use their abilities and upgrades. While Kamen Rider Decade initially only had access to the powers of his fellow Heisei Era Riders, Tsukasa eventually became a staple in the franchise’s meta-themed anniversary seasons.

Usually taking on the role of his catchphrase as a “passing-through Kamen Rider,” Tsukasa is eventually shown accessing Rider Powers even beyond his order in the series. Decade’s eventual possession of an upgraded DecaDriver, an upgraded trinket for fellow time-traveler Zi-O, and theoretical access to forms of reality-warpers such as Gaim and Geats means Tsukasa can do anything he wishes.

1 Kamen Rider Ohma Zi-O

Constant Access To Rider Powers, More Reliable Than The Main Rider’s Final Form

Kamen Rider Ohma Zi-O

First Appearance Zi-O, Episode 1
Real Name SOUGO Tokiwa, Sougo Tokiwa
Powerset All Kamen Riders, Time Travel
Weakness Ambiguity of form’s limits

Stopping protagonist Sougo Tokiwa from becoming Kamen Rider Ohma Zi-O, the future tyrannical ruler of Earth, has become the main crux of the story of Kamen Rider Zi-O. This form proved more powerful than the intended final form of the main rider that Sougo uses in the final battle than his own GrandZi-O final form.

As Ohma Zi-O, his temporal omnipresence allows Sougo to will any kind of Kamen Rider to exist and access their powers. Only one caveat exists with the Ohma Zi-O form, and it’s the ambiguity of its limits. The original Ohma Zi-O can only access the powers of all Riders before his present of 2068. However, present Sougo’s time travel giving proactive access to the Ohma Zi-O Driver means he should be able to access future Riders as well.
