The Sims 4: How To Complete The Barbie Legacy Challenge
The Barbie Legacy Challenge tasks Sims 4 players with guiding multiple Barbies along the path to success; here’s how this can be done.
To complete the 100 baby challenge in The Sims 4, players will have to create a matriarch Sim and have 100 babies, all with different Sims. Once the mother passes away, the youngest child is the next matriarch. It will require a lot of time and patience, so here are some tips to help complete the challenge.
Updated April 15, 2024 by Taylor Pittman: As an already difficult challenge, the 100 baby challenge pushes Sims to test their parenting skills to the max. With the addition of Infants, the challenge is even more arduous for Simmers as they will have to figure in a new, particularly needy life stage. The Sims team also extended all the other life stages, except for Newborns, when Infants were added to the game.
On the other hand, some packs make the 100 baby challenge easier. The Sims 4: For Rent Expansion has unique aspects, with communal living as a new feature, and The Sims 4: Growing Together changes the family dynamic almost entirely with quirks and a memory system. Players with other packs have various items, gameplay functions, and NPCs they can use to assist them with the challenge. So, this list has been updated to include additional tips for the 100 baby challenge in The Sims 4.
1 Pick Good Traits For The Matriarch
The Matriarch Is The Original Sim Who Starts The Challenge
Players can choose the original Sim’s Traits to get a head start. The Romantic Trait will certainly come in handy, especially since the Sim needs to Flirt to unlock the Try for Baby option. Self-Assured is another good Trait as it will give them random boosts of confidence.
This will help when they’re telling a joke or making bold romantic advances. Family-Oriented and Childish Traits can help level up their Parenting Skill faster and fill up their Fun Need more quickly.
2 Aspirations For The Matriarch
In Create A Sim (CAS), after deciding the personality Traits, players can now pick an Aspiration for their matriarch. Every Aspiration has a bonus Trait. The Romantic one rewards players with the Alluring Trait. It helps Sims succeed with romantic interactions more than others.
The Family Aspirations, especially the Super Parent one, grants the Domestic bonus Trait. This Trait helps Simmers build their family relationships faster, and as a result, Sim’s children are more likely to listen to them.
3 Useful Lot Traits
Lot Traits Have Special Effects On Sims
In any World, every Lot can have three Traits in The Sims 4. Some of them already have Traits, while some don’t. According to the 100 baby challenge rules, players can pick the Traits of the Lot they’re going to live in. However, if the house originally had Traits, then Simmers aren’t allowed to change them.
The best Traits that will immensely help with this challenge are:
- Good Schools: Boost school performance and give a Confident Moodlet.
- On Ley Line: Sims are more likely to have Twins than others.
- Romantic Aura: Boost Romantic Interactions.
4 Purchase A Residential Rental Lot
Potential Donor Sims Can Stay On The Same Lot
The Sims 4: For Rent allows players to keep multiple households on the same lot. While the donor Sims aren’t allowed to contribute to the household, players can get a head start on recruiting them by purchasing a Residential Lot and filling in its vacancies. This way, they have quick access to flirt and get pregnant.
Players can also move their Young Adult children into the same Residential Lot. There’s a chance they will hang around more often to assist with childcare. Players can increase this likelihood by giving their Young Adult children a key to their home when they move out, so they can come and go as they please.
5 Live In A Tiny Home
Small, Tiny, And Micro Homes Have Bonuses
Players with the Tiny Living Stuff Pack can live in small, tiny, and micro homes. Each tier of a tiny home has several bonuses, including cheaper bills, double Skill gain, faster Need increase, easy relationship gain, and even quicker gardening. The pack also has several items that make living in a tight space easier, such as a Murphy Bed and entertainment center with shelves and a built-in TV.
Murphy Beds are notorious for malfunctioning and potentially killing Sims, so tread carefully when using one.
All Sims benefit from living in a tiny home, but the best thing is the relationship gain boost. Players can spend less time flirting and talking to Sims when they are interacting inside the tiny home and get straight to the baby-making business.
6 Summon Bonehilda To Help
Bonehilda Is A Temporary Maid, Babysitter, And Cook In One
Those with The Sims 4: Paranormal Stuff get access to a Sim Franchise classic NPC, Bonehilda. Bonehilda is a deceased Sim who takes on the form of a skeleton maid. Players can summon Bonehilda if they have a high enough Medium skill.
Bonehilda will autonomously assist around the house for a temporary amount of time. She will clean, repair items, and assist children with their homework. Players can talk to Bonehilda and befriend her to increase their Social Need.
7 Keep A Young Adult
Young Adults Help With Childcare
The 100 baby challenge states that once the teen is an A student, they can age up and move out of the house. However, if players are struggling with raising six children and their matriarch is heavily pregnant, they can keep the Young Adult until the baby is born.
The Sims 4: A Guide To Parenting
Parenting can be a difficult thing in The Sims 4. Here’s a complete guide to the mechanic.
Young Adults can help with basic chores like cooking and cleaning while the mother sleeps or works. Having an extra hand to help around the house is better than forcing a Sim with low Needs to do them.
8 Accept Stay-Overs
Stay-Over Guests May Assist With Babies
Players with the Growing Together Expansion pack can take advantage of Stay-Overs. Infants require a lot of hands-on work, and until there are any Teens or Young Adults in the family, the matriarch will have to manage them on her own. However, she can invite or accept guests for Stay-Overs.
During Stay-Overs NPC Sims will come and temporarily stay the night. While it is against the rules to hire a Nanny, Stay-Over guests can help out with the Infants while they are there. Players can not encourage them to help, though, and must ask them to relax.
9 Buy A Wabbit Tablet
Wabbit Tablets Increase Toddler Skills Easily
At the start of the challenge, it might be difficult to buy anything other than the bare necessities. But, if Simmers can spare a few Simoleons, they can buy the Wabbit Tablet. It costs $500 and will help Toddlers level up four different Skills:
- Communication
- Imagination
- Movement
- Thinking
Players don’t have to buy different objects for every Skill with the Wabbit Tablet. Simmers can use free methods to level up the Toddlers’ Skills until they have enough money to buy the tablet from Build Mode. For example, using Flashcards to level up Thinking and dancing to a song on the radio to level up Movement.
10 Utilize Clubs
Create Clubs For Potential Donors, Children, And Teens
The City Living Expansion Pack includes an underrated feature known as Clubs. The game has several pre-made Clubs, but players can also make their own to fit their needs. Clubs can be made using gender, traits, careers, and more as requirements.
For the 100 baby challenge, players can put their potential donors in a club and set the activities to things such as Be Romantic and WooHoo. Clubs are also a great way to get social and skill boosts for Child and Teen Sims to help them with their grades and development.
11 Buy Multiple High Chairs
High Chairs Are Needed To Feed Infants
Despite money being scarce at first, players will have to have at least one high chair if they wish to progress with the challenge. Infants cannot be aged until they have tried all the baby food options using a high chair. There are fourteen mashed food options for Infants to try.
The only exception to this rule is if Simmers have Growing Together, they only need to try three mashed foods and one finger food. Additionally, Infants must have reached their Crawling and Pincer Grasp Milestones before they can age into Toddlers.
12 Buy A Good Bed
The Matriarch Needs Good Rest
The health of the, the mother of all, is the most crucial thing players need to focus on. If the mother has full needs and sleeps on a high-quality bed, the Energy need will refill faster, and the parent will be in a good mood to do some chores and maybe even work to earn some extra Simoleons.
The Sims 4: 16 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do In Build Mode
Even longtime players of The Sims 4 may be surprised to learn these interesting tidbits about Build Mode.
At the start of the 100 baby challenge, Simmers won’t have that much money because of the newly bought house in The Sims 4 and buying the baby necessities. Most high-quality beds are on the expensive side. So, it’s best to buy medium quality at first, then move to a better quality later.
13 Make Money At Home
Odd Jobs, Freelance, And Other Work-From-Home Gigs Are Available
Because of the 100 baby challenge rules, the mother can’t join a Career in The Sims 4, and Teen Sims can only get Part-time jobs. Fortunately, Simmers can make money using other methods. The most common method is painting or gardening. Homegrown produce can be sold directly from the inventory, or Sims can buy an easel and paint until they max their Painting Skills. Now, they are more likely to create Masterpieces and sell each one for thousands of Simoleons.
Another method is to buy a computer from Buy Mode and max out the Writing Skill. By clicking the Practice Writing and Write a Book options, Simmers can level up their Writing Skill. Once the Skill is level 10, they will have a higher chance of writing a Bestseller that can be sold for a decent amount of Simoleons. Additionally, players get royalties for every book they publish.
14 Satisfaction Points Rewards
Use Satisfaction Points For Bonus Traits
Every Sim has Whims that appear as a cloud above their head on the bottom left screen. Completing any of them will reward Simmers with Satisfaction points. These points can be used to purchase a potion or an extra Trait from the Reward Store. Players can change their Sims’ Aspirations anytime to rack up points from easy tasks.
Players can buy the Sleep Replacement Potion if their Sim needs Energy. There are other portions for needs and some traits that make it so that Sims don’t need to eat, sleep, or use the restroom as often. However, the most important Trait to purchase is Fertile. This extra Trait will make the matriarch more likely to have twins or triplets, which is crucial for completing this challenge.
15 Prioritize Infant Care
Infants Must Age Up With Positive Traits
A rule added with Infants is that they must Age up with the Happy Infant or Top-Notch Infant trait. While Infants in Growing Together may develop helpful quirks such as Self Soothing or Heavy Sleeper, caring for them is a full-time job with the pack or just playing with base game Infants.
The Sims 4: 15 Mods That Improve Teen Gameplay
Life as a teenager is full of drama and change. These mods for The Sims 4 allow players to fully explore those aspects of teen life with their Sims!
The only way to achieve these traits is to ensure they have their needs taken care of and get lots of attention. Leaving them in dirty diapers, not soothing them to sleep, or ignoring their cries will result in a negative trait, and the rules of the challenge won’t be met. Developing a routine with Infants is the best to make caring for them more manageable.
16 Focus On Potty
Potty Training Is Important For Independent Toddlers
To make any Toddler go potty, one of the parents needs to take the child to the bathroom. This will sometimes become annoying as the matriarch is busy, has low needs, or is asleep. As a result, players must level up Toddlers’ Potty Skills, so they can go on their own without needing a grown-up.
Before leveling up any skill for Toddlers, take them to the bathroom and press the Go Potty action multiple times, even if the children don’t need to empty their bladder. Once they reach level two of Potty in The Sims 4, players can now click to Go Potty while controlling the Toddler.
17 Keep The Matriarch Pregnant
Continuous Pregnancies Keep Players From Falling Behind
It’s a known fact that pregnant Sims don’t age and can’t die. Therefore, players need to keep their Sim pregnant almost all the time to take advantage of their short lifespan. To do that, players can flirt and WooHoo with the next parent while pregnant. This way, they’re not wasting time and the matriarch will immediately get pregnant after giving birth.
If the household is full and one Teen is living at home during the last trimester, Simmers need to focus on aging their Teen Sims. To do so, players need to ensure they become an A student. This can be done by ensuring teens are doing the following:
- Study Hard
- Doing homework and extra credit every night
- Going to school with high needs
18 Buy A Fridge Display
Fridge Displays Make Feeding Toddlers Efficient
Every once in a while, the Toddlers would wake up at an unreasonable hour and demand food because of low Hunger needs. The whole household would be asleep and players need to forcefully wake up someone to bring some leftovers to the Toddler.
A quick and easy solution is buying a fridge display from Get To Work pack in The Sims 4. Simmers can cook multiple large meals and store them in the display, and the Toddler can now easily approach it and grab a plate without needing anyone. In Build Mode, there is the Frigidaire Refrigerated Display which costs $325, or the Baker’s Cousin Display Case, which costs $425. Although it may seem expensive initially, it will immensely help in the long run.
19 Buy A Buffet Table
Another Option To Feed Toddlers And Other Household Sims
Players who don’t have Get To Work can also purchase Buffet Tables. Buffet Tables are available in the Luxury Party Stuff Pack, My Wedding Stories, and High School Years. They have six slots and can be equipped with five pre-made meals or stocked with food that Sims cook.
The food is always good quality, but Sims with a maxed-out gourmet cooking skill can garnish it to increase the quality. While they are expensive, Sims don’t need to cook if they have one. Players will find the Buffet Tables in Build Mode under the following names:
- Banquetia Plateau (Luxury Party Stuff) – $445
- Fancy Feast Banquet Table (Luxury Party Stuff) – $525
- Wooden Banquet (My Wedding Stories) – $445
- The Graby Fountain Mark IV Platform (My Wedding Stories) – $525
- Starry Eyed Collection Banquet Table (High School Years) – $450
20 Separate Bathrooms
Bathroom Stalls Eliminate Bathroom Holdups And Accidents
Taking care of eight Sims, which is a full household, is quite a laborious task, especially at the beginning of the challenge. The house will be small and there won’t be that many bathrooms, which will cause Embarrassing Moddlets and bladder issues. Luckily, there is a solution to this problem.
Simmers can sell the toilet in the bathroom and replace it with bathroom stalls. This is efficient, doesn’t take up a lot of space, and allows more than one Sim to enter the bathroom. In addition, Sims are less likely to get unwanted Moodlets when they walk in on each other.
