Dave the Diver merges the unique aspects of underwater diving with the intricacies of running a restaurant, offering players an engaging combination of exploration and simulation. This charming indie game has achieved widespread acclaim by seamlessly integrating these two distinct elements into a wildly enjoyable game featuring hilarious characters, an engaging story, and fish.
In Dave the Diver, the eponymous Dave has been enlisted to dive and capture fish to supply a local sushi bar and aid its head chef, Bancho, in its daily operation. On his dives, Dave encounters an expansive assortment of over 120 sea creatures. As players progress through the game’s story, they unlock new areas featuring new underwater species to catch, catalog, and serve.
Dave the Diver: How to Hire and Use Employees
Employees can not only help Dave the Diver and Bancho run the restaurant but can also do other chores for players while they fish and serve.
Dave the Diver introduces players to a series of distinct biomes, each home to its own collection of fish. While a few species may inhabit several regions, most are biome-specific. As players navigate through these underwater realms, they will encounter and unlock new fish, some of which become available only after key story events. Additionally, there are certain underwater creatures that players will encounter only during the night.
As expected, there are numerous reasons for players to seek out every type of fish featured in Dave the Diver. Certain fish fetch a much higher price when prepared and served at the restaurant. Additionally, players looking to complete their collection of Marinca cards will need to explore every league of the game’s expansive map to complete their collection.
About Day Catchable Fish
Below is a full list of all fish catchable during the daytime in Dave the Diver. Some daytime fish will also spawn during the night, while certain fish that will spawn only at night. The game categorizes these as Nocturnal fish in the player’s Marinca collection.
As this guide covers specifically fish caught during the day, there may be gaps in the Marinca # listing, as these fish were recategorized in a game update. Additionally, this list features only species which are caught, not those which can only be photographed or bosses which must be defeated to receive their cards.
Star Ratings
It’s important to note that the star rating of a fish displayed on its Marinca card is based on the condition of the fish when it was caught, and is not indicative of rarity or other factors. The star rating is assigned as follows:
- 1-Star: The fish was killed before it was caught.
- 2-Star: The fish took damage before it was caught.
- 3-Star: The fish was caught without it taking damage.
Therefore, players who are looking to complete their collection with all 3-Star catches will need to pay attention to the weapons and tools they are using. For example, catching 3-Star large fish, including sharks, will require players to use a tranquilizer such as the Tranquilizer Rifle and bring the stunned fish to the surface using the Underwater Drone. Fish which are caught via the higher star ranking methods will yield more meat that can be used at the sushi bar.
