How to beat the Chaos Cyclone minibus in Persona 3 Reload

Persona 3 Reload features several miniboss encounters that regularly test the player’s limits. From very early in the player’s journey up the massive tower of Tartarus, powerful shadows will emerge to act as a sort of barrier, ensuring the party is truly ready to move on to the floor above. While all these enemies present serious challenges, very few are as tough as the bosses that are encountered during Persona 3 Reload‘s Monad Door Challenges.

The Chaos Cyclops boss is one of the earlier Monad Door bosses that players will encounter, and a perfect example of the challenging shadows that wait behind the strange red doors. The Chaos Cyclops sits somewhere between a normal mini-boss, and the true level-ending bosses that present the game’s biggest challenge. This guide will explore the unique challenges that this boss presents, ensuring players can still win tough battles when one of the game’s biggest crutches is taken away.

  • When scanned using Fuuka’s Full Analysis, it is revealed that Chaos Cyclops has no weaknesses.
  • The Chaos Cyclops will Block Light and Pierce Damage.

While it is true that the lack of weaknesses makes this fight much more challenging, players should take advantage of the fact that they are essentially forced to strategize, providing an opportunity to utilize buffs and debuffs with a focus on inflicting massive damage or
critical Downs.
Remember that critical hits will down enemies just like a weakness, providing the opportunity for an All-Out Attack.

The Chaos Cyclops is encountered as a Monad Room boss, found between floors 92 and 116 in the Yabbashah region of Tartarus. Monad Rooms randomly appear on floors, much like Rare Shadows and special treasure chests. This makes it virtually impossible to narrow the location down any further.

As mentioned above, the Chaos Cyclops is not weak to any specific attack, which means that players must use other methods to defeat it. Use the following tactics to improve your chances of defeating the Chaos Cyclops:

P3R-Crit-Weapons

  • Utilize weapons that improve critical hit chances: There are several weapons that improve the chance of landing critical hits, which down an enemy in the same way as a weakness hit. Check out Persona 3 Reload‘s weapon fuse mechanic to find several options.

P3R-Crit-Spells

  • Use Buffs, Debuffs, and Status Ailments: There are a wide range of spells that can seriously improve the chance for success. Here are some great spells to consider:
    • Rebellion: Increases 1 ally’s critical rate for 3 turns (several Persona’s, including Power.)
    • Apt Pupil: This spell is frequently offered as a reward in skill card form. It is a passive effect that doubles the chances of a critical hit.
    • Matarukaja: Increases the entire party’s attack for 3 turns, massively empowering all damage done to the enemy. (Black Frost)
    • Tarunda: Decreases one foe’s attack for 3 turns (Akihiko has this by default)
    • Revolution: This is risky, as it greatly increases critical rates for both friend and foe. However, with only one enemy, chances are Chaos Cyclops will be dead before any negative effects of using this spell can be felt.
  • Players should experiment with as many buff/debuff/ailment options as they can. Try mixing both strategies, as enemies under the effect of status effects are more likely to take critical hits.
  • P3R’s Theurgy mechanic is also an incredibly powerful tool when facing enemies with no weaknesses: Attacks like the main character’s ‘Jack Brothers’ feature a ‘high chance of inflicting Down. Anything that allows for All-Out Attacks will be hugely beneficial in a fight like this.
