The development team behind Diablo Immortal has taken a strong stance against any and all exploitation of the game’s economy in a newly released statement. The Diablo Immortal team makes it very clear that they’re cracking down on cheaters and hackers who exploit the game’s in-game currency, warning players against engaging in prohibited activities.
Diablo Immortal was released back in June 2022 and is a game that is often criticized for its monetization. The game is unique within Blizzard’s Diablo franchise, being developed primarily with smartphones in mind. The Diablo formula of gameplay translates surprisingly well to touch-screen devices, but smartphone games are notorious for their in-app purchases, and Diablo Immortal is no different. However, certain players have opted to cheat and hack their way around Diablo Immortal‘s monetization, resulting in the development team warning players against doing so.
Diablo Immortal Update Takes Fans Back to Classic Location
Blizzard officially announces a new update for the Diablo Immortal mobile game that will see players return to a classic location.
A new statement from the Diablo Immortal team clearly lays out rules and regulations that players must abide by in order to maintain their account. One of the prohibited activities is using third-party software, something Blizzard has already warned against for Diablo 4. Players caught engaging in these behaviors will face serious punishment, with the development team stating that it has already taken action against offenders, issuing either temporary or permanent bans to their accounts.
Microtransactions have been a problem for Diablo Immortal from the start, and it’s unlikely that will change any time soon. The development team reiterates that players caught cheating will face serious consequences, as stated in Blizzard’s End User License Agreement. In order to ensure players understand what not to do, Blizzard has laid out a list of activities that are strictly prohibited for Diablo Immortal players.
Prohibited Activity in Diablo Immortal
- Buying items from authorized vendors
- Making fraudulent purchases in either the Battle.net shop or the Diablo Immortal in-game store
- Scamming other players or abusing the in-game market
- Exploiting bugs to abuse the in-game Market or economy
- Using bugs or glitches to abuse the economy within Diablo Immortal
- Using software to automate Diablo Immortal gameplay
“We want the Diablo Immortal community to trust in our commitment to the game’s integrity,” the team states. “Our ongoing mission is to protect your time, and your well-earned progress. In addition to the actions today, we will continue to enforce these rules as we constantly evolve our detection processes to find and target clear violations.” Regardless of microtransactions, Blizzard managed to craft a popular mobile game with Diablo Immortal, quickly reaching 10 million installs shortly after release. The development team has continued to support Diablo Immortal, with one developer teasing the future addition of a Blood Knight class in Diablo Immortal.
