Activision has revealed all the new content coming to Call of Duty: Warzone in the approaching Season 3 update, which includes the return of Rebirth Island, new modes, items, Ranked Play changes, and more. Call of Duty: Warzone‘s next major patch is set to drop on Wednesday, April 3.
The possible return of Rebirth Island has long been rumored after dataminers found evidence of such a map on multiple occasions. The unearthed Rebirth Island files were tagged with “s3,” leading many to assume that the popular level would be re-added sometime during Season 3. This was officially confirmed when Activision announced Rebirth Island would return on April 3, but the publisher has shared many more details regarding the new version of the 2020 map.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Confirms New Maps and Modes Coming in Season 3
Details of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Season 3 update are revealed, which include new maps, weapons, the return of two classic modes, and more.
At first glance, Season 3’s Rebirth Island looks quite similar to its predecessor, as it features all the same POIs. However, these structures have undergone various modifications both outside and inside, and a brand-new building has been added in Building No 06, a small power plant that contains underwater passageways for stealthy repositioning. Rebirth Island’s main mode, Rebirth Resurgence, supports 44 players. However, two new modes will be available to play on Rebirth Island later in Season 3. The first one, Rebirth Resurgence Loaded, allows users to drop in with custom loadouts. The other one, Rebirth Lockdown, features a reduced player count of 28 users and sees users play in a larger version of Hardpoint.
What’s Coming to Warzone in Season 3?
- Rebirth Island
- New features like Smart Displays, the Specialist Perk Package (mid-season), and more
- Public Events like Rebirth Infil Strikes (mid-season) and Gulag: Climb and Punishment
- Warzone Ranked switching to Rebirth Island and adding new rewards
Later in Season 3, the Rebirth Infil Strikes Public Event begins, which has a chance to randomly bomb various sections of the new map at the start of a match. This creates alternate, rubble-filled versions of certain POIs that allow for new ways to navigate. Other events coming in Season 3 include the Gulag: Climb and Punishment Event, which drops two ladders in the Gulag and allows competitors to communicate and agree to leave together, and the Heavy Armor Event, which gives all players an extra slot for armor plates.
Season 3 also adds a plethora of new features that are only available on Rebirth Island. These include the Spy Drones Contract, Squad Rage Field Upgrade, Smart Displays, Specialist Perk Package (added later), and more. Smart Displays seem to be one of the more interesting additions. The screens are shown throughout Rebirth Island and tell users where the most player-heavy section of the map is, along with other info. And similar to Warzone‘s Season 2 update, Season 3 introduces a new killstreak, Foresight, which will be added later on. This killstreak allows a user to see all future circles.
Warzone‘s Ranked Play receives some changes with Season 3 as well. The mode’s map will be changed to Rebirth Island and new Ranked rewards will be added.
