Lightsabers are the quintessential Star Wars weapon, and they are as varied as the characters that wield them. Some colors are rarer than others.

Both Instagram and Facebook Messenger offer the option to set backgrounds for individual chats, and in recent years, they have collaborated with major franchises to create unique experiences. Now, The Acolyte joins the ranks with its own collaboration. The new background features two distinct lightsabers that dynamically change based on the background mode selected – light mode displays a blue lightsaber, while dark mode reveals a red one. These two lightsabers are purportedly set to appear in The Acolyte, but the question remains: whose lightsabers are they?

According to Reddit user u/TheReturnoftheSiff, the blue lightsaber in The Acolyte belongs to Master Sol, the lead character and a powerful Jedi Master. Redditors have noted that the blue lightsaber appears cold, as if it were made of ice, and have praised how well this aligns with Master Sol’s character. An intriguing observation from fans is that the blue lightsaber appears much paler than anticipated, suggesting that this detail could play a significant role in the upcoming series. Regarding the red lightsaber, its owner remains unknown, simply described as a Sith lightsaber. Many speculate it could belong to a new Sith Lord featured in a previous trailer, or possibly another Sith from Star Wars canon. Alternatively, there is speculation that it might be linked to Amandla Stenberg’s character, Mae, adding further intrigue to her role in the series.

The Acolyte series is set to break new ground as the first Star Wars project to delve deeper into the Dark side of the franchise. Created by Leslye Headland, renowned for her work on Russian Doll, The Acolyte comprises eight episodes set at the end of the High Republic era, preceding the events depicted in the mainline Star Wars films. This upcoming series represents a significant departure from the traditional Star Wars narrative, providing audiences with a fresh perspective from the dark side for the very first time. With its intriguing premise, The Acolyte promises to unveil aspects of the Star Wars universe rarely explored, offering fans an exciting and distinctive viewing experience.

Star Wars: The Acolyte is set to premiere on June 4th, exclusively on Disney Plus.
