One Sims 4 player has recently managed to complete a painting worth over 21,000 Simoleons. Their masterpiece later made the rounds on social media, challenging some Sims 4 players’ perceptions of their in-game earning potential.
As was the case with the previous series entries, the value of paintings in The Sims 4 largely hinges on the author’s painting skill. Even so, there are a few other factors to consider.

Sims 4 Player Impresses Peers With $21,052 Painting
Reddit user Uselessweight03 can attest to that fact, having recently managed to produce a piece of artwork worth 21,052 Simoleons. Their unusual-looking painting, featuring a cat in a top hat next to what kind of looks like a llama eating an apple, emerged on the front page of the r/TheSims4 subreddit in early August, eliciting widespread praise from the fandom. Its extremely high valuation even prompted some fans to speculate whether Uselessweight03 might have utilized some kind of Sims 4 painting mods to jack up the artwork’s price. But the player clarified this was all achieved on a vanilla version of the game.
Elaborating on how this success came to be, Uselessweight03 explained that their character spent a lot of time maxing out their painting skill, while also obtaining The Sims 4 Marketable trait. Furthermore, the painting itself was completed on a lot with a Home Studio trait, which significantly boosts the quality of all arts and crafts objects created at a supported location. The Home Studio lot trait is exclusive to the City Living expansion pack.
With all of those factors combined, Uselessweight03 managed to produce a painting that’s more valuable than what some players even thought possible. At the same time, its valuation could have ostensibly been even a bit higher, as the player’s screenshot reveals that the artwork was completed on a standard E.A.S.L. Easel. This is the most basic painting frame available in the game, which comes with the lowliest painting quality rating. The Easy-Breezy Easel, Pre-Owned Painter’s Easel, and Deluxe All-Season Easel would have all possibly produced even higher-quality results.
Procuring these premium easels can be a time-consuming affair, as they only become available by pursuing and advancing a painter career in The Sims 4. Specifically, the Easy-Breezy Easel is unlocked at a career level 4, whereas Pre-Owned Painter’s Easel and Deluxe All-Season Easel can be purchased after reaching level 7 and 9, respectively. Another factor that possibly contributed to the overall value of Uselessweight03’s painting was their Sims’ mood, as characters who are in a better mood normally produce more valuable artwork.

The Sims 4 is the latest entry in EA’s iconic social simulation series. Like its predecessors, The Sims 4 lets players create characters known as Sims, with their appearance, dress sense, and personality all being customizable.
The Sims 4’s main innovation to the series was The Gallery, which lets players upload and download custom-made Sims, houses, and other creations.
