Starfield Players Are Already Modding the New REV-8 Vehicle

Less than 24 hours since its release, Starfield players are already modding the game’s new REV-8 vehicle, allowing users to drastically change the overall appearance of the space rover. After months of waiting, Bethesda finally pulled back the curtain during Gamescom Opening Night Live and revealed Starfield‘s highly-anticipated new land vehicle, the REV-8, which is available in-game right now.

When Bethesda’s latest RPG launched back in 2023, Todd Howard explained why Starfield didn’t have any land vehicles, citing pacing issues as the main reason. But now, almost one year later, fans’ requests have been heard as the new REV-8 land vehicle was added to Starfield on August 20 as part of a surprise new update. The studio also confirmed during Gamescom Opening Night Live that the highly-anticipated Shattered Space DLC will be launching for Xbox Series X/S and PC on September 30.

Even though there are still plenty of players who haven’t even had the chance to check out the newest Starfield update yet, modders are already taking the game’s REV-8 vehicle and turning it into something completely different. Although only a handful of mods for the REV-8 currently exist, one of the most popular ones is the NASA Lunar Rover mod, which is available to download on NexusMods for the PC version of Starfield. According to the mod’s description, it replaces the REV-8 with the iconic NASA Lunar Rover, but sadly does not come with a dedicated rear mount for Vasco, although he can still enter the vehicle.

New Starfield Mods for REV-8 Are Already Available

There are also two other Starfield mods for the REV-8 available on NexusMods. The first is Old Earth ATV, which once again changes the design of the REV-8 into a general-purpose rover, and then there is the Crimson Gang Van, which turns the new vehicle into an 80’s style van owned by the Crimson Fleet. Although these are the only mods currently available, the latest Starfield update was only released on August 20, which means there will likely be an influx of more creations once modders get the opportunity to get to work.

As fans patiently wait for the release of Shattered Space, Starfield‘s new REV-8 vehicle is likely to see players return to the RPG in the meantime. Alongside the addition of a new vehicle, Starfield‘s latest update also adds new performance options on the Xbox Series S, such as allowing users to choose between 30,40, 60, or an uncapped frame rate on VRR displays, a new prioritize setting, and vsync. There are also plenty of new gameplay updates and bug fixes across PC and Xbox Series X/S.
