Key Takeaways

  • Hotfix v1.1.1 for Star Wars Outlaws on PC improves VRAM and overall stability.
  • More updates are in the works for the open world Star Wars games.

A new update for Star Wars Outlaws on PC is out now. Hotfix v1.1.1, which only affects the PC version of the game, serves as its first major hotfix since Star Wars Outlaws officially launched on August 30.

Star Wars Outlaws is a fully open-world title from Ubisoft developed by Massive Games which puts players into the shoes of a smuggler during the height of the Galactic Civil War. Set during the era of the original Star Wars trilogy, Outlaws seeks to expand the world with a canon storyline and even appearances from iconic characters like Jabba the Hutt and Lando Calrissian.

In a recent post on Twitter, the game’s official account announced hotfix v1.1.1, meant to improve VRAM usage and generally better optimize performance and stability for the PC version of Star Wars Outlaws. The post did not share any specific details about specific bugs or issues the patch has set out to fix, however, and some users have reported performance issues persisting even after installing the update.

Ubisoft Announces Star Wars Outlaws Hotfix v1.1.1 for PC

Aside from visual errors, bugs, and performance and frame rate issues, Ubisoft received backlash after PS5 players who had played the game early thanks to a Gold Edition pre-order bonus started seeing their Star Wars Outlaws save files become unusable after an update. Needless to say, the console version has its share of issues as well, but many of its most glaring technical problems seem to come from the PC version, which skipped a Steam release in favor of Ubisoft Connect.

Despite further controversy surrounding Star Wars Outlaws regarding the cost of its special editions and having paywalled certain content, the game has seen generally favorable critical reviews, with many citing its dynamic and vast open world as a major selling point. Outlets have compared the game to Red Dead Redemption with its approach to open-world exploration, with others drawing comparisons to Ubisoft’s own Assassin’s Creed franchise, specifically with its character progression system.

Between a rocky Star Wars Outlaws launch and dwindling player numbers in its new competitive shooter XDefiant, Ubisoft has proven to be resilient as the company continues to work to improve the game, with more subsequent patches likely on the way. Meanwhile, fans still have plenty to look forward to as the game is set to receive several DLC expansions down the line and Ubisoft prepares for another major launch with the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows this November.
