  • Master of Moon Breathing, Kokushibo’s techniques rival all but Muzan’s, making him a formidable force.

Upper Rank One and the second in command after Muzan – Kokushibo is a powerful demon who was once a human named Michikatsu Tsugikuni. He is also the elder twin brother of the legendary demon slayer – Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the swordsman that Muzan feared the most.

Kokushibo uses a breathing style known as Moon Breathing which was created as an extension of the sun breathing technique. Unlike Sun Breathing, Moon Breathing is dark and chaotic because it is infused with Kokushibo’s blood demon art. By combining Moon Breathing with his blood demon art, Kokushibo can unleash deadly attacks.

The Upper Rank 1 Demon, Kokushibo: Brother Of Yoriichi

The Demon With Six Eyes and The Flesh Katana

As one of the upper-rank demons, Kokushibo has a calm yet deadly aura. As a loyal follower of Muzan, Kokushibo possesses an extremely high level of blood demo art. Before he became a demon, Kokushibo in his human form was an extremely talented swordsman, however after he became a demon, not only did he have powerful blood demon art, but he also greatly increased his skills in swordmanship, as he trained for almost five hundred years to become as strong as he is.

Since most of the techniques he learned during this time were his own, it is unlikely that they would be passed down to swordsmen in the future. Because of his blood demon art, Kokushibo is able to create his own katana using his very own flesh, by doing this, he is able to adjust the length and even add extensions to the blade. The katana could also not be damaged as it would just regenerate thanks to his blood demon art.

You couldn’t even kill an infant with the likes of that, once I’ve put you down, the two of you..the rest ought to be trivial

Moon Breathing, Fighting Styles, and Techniques Explained

Kokushibo’s Blood Demon Art Combines with his Moon Breathing

His sword and his blood demon art combined allows Kokushibo to unleash powerful attacks with crescent-shaped blades from his flesh katana. He is able to manipulate the size, direction and speed of the crescent-shaped blades, making his attacks highly unpredictable, this makes it hard for his opponents to read his attacks making it all the more difficult to defeat him. With every swing of his flesh katana, he is able to create crescent-shaped blades, the blades are known to be created from his blood and are seen to be either yellow or blue depending on his type of attack. Kokushibo’s blood demon art and moon breathing technique also allows him to either extend or shorten the range of his sword slashes so that he is able to launch long or short-range attacks on his opponents.

By using his Moon Breathing technique, Kokushibo is able to use sixteen different forms of attacks that are extremely deadly when launched towards an opponent. A couple of these forms are – First form: Dark Moon, Evening Palace, a horizontal slash attack that creates and launches multiple crescent-shaped blades towards his opponent. Second form: Peral Flower Moongazing, is another slash attack where three crescent-shaped slashes are released along with a large amount of crescent-shaped blades.

Kokushibo is also able to execute an even more powerful move once his flesh katana is altered, such as his Eight form: Moon-Dragon Ringtail, where he executes a huge long ranged slash that leaves multiple crescent-shaped blades along its path. His Tenth form: Drilling Slashes, Moon Through Bamboo Leaves allows him to create three layers of rotating slashes with multiple crescent-shaped blades. Finally, his Sixteenth Form: Moonbow, Half Moon is his most powerful attack, as he is able to execute six curved slashes to slash down in front of him at opponents who are a number of meters ahead of him. Unlike other blood demon art, Kokushibo’s Moon Breathing technique triumphs all other techniques except Muzan’s. The combination of blood demon art along with powerful swordsmanship is a force to be reckoned with.
