The September 17 Title Update for Dragon’s Dogma 2 is now live for all players. Capcom, the developer and publisher of Dragon’s Dogma 2, last dropped an update for the game in July, and the new patch promises to attract new players to the title with a relaxing new mode.

Upon its release in March, Dragon’s Dogma 2 received plenty of criticism for its microtransactions and optimization issues. Capcom has pushed out a steady stream of patches since then, both addressing technical problems and providing fresh content as well. The latest major update for Dragon’s Dogma 2 is no different, implementing various changes, delivering performance improvements, and even adding a new mode that lowers the acclaimed fantasy RPG’s difficulty.

A highlight of Capcom’s September 17 Title Update is the addition of a Casual Mode, which, among other things, features reduced inn fees and cheaper prices for Ferrystones, the consumable item used to fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2. This patch also made tweaks to vocations, increased frame rates in areas with a lot of NPCs, and fixed a long list of bugs, such as the one that caused black screens to appear for players who skipped cutscenes.

The latest Title Update comes after Dragon’s Dogma series director Hideaki Itsuno announced his departure from Capcom. During his 30-year stint at the company, Itsuno worked on a number of other properties, most notably the Devil May Cry franchise of hack-and-slash titles. The veteran Japanese developer revealed in a statement that he plans to continue making games, specifically those that he described as being fun, beautiful, and memorable. Itsuno’s last Capcom release, Dragon’s Dogma 2, has been praised for its gameplay, world design, and use of an emergent narrative system.

Fans have theorized that Capcom could be preparing to announce DLC for Dragon’s Dogma 2 after discovering that the RPG’s Steam listing recently received some encrypted updates. Past rumors suggested that an expansion called The Dragon Princess, which will supposedly feature a new story and region that will match the base game’s main map in terms of size, is set to come out in November. An enhanced version of the original Dragon’s Dogma from 2012, Dark Arisen, provided players with additional content like an extra dungeon.

Around two months after the launch of Dragon’s Dogma 2, Capcom revealed that the game had already managed to attract three million players globally.
