Yet another classic Star Wars video game is getting a remaster from Aspyr, this time being 2000’s Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles. Aspyr has been the go-to developer for Star Wars rereleases for a long time now, porting older titles onto platforms like PC and the Nintendo Switch. Earlier this year, Aspyr brought the original Star Wars: Battlefront entries to modern hardware in the form of Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, which was met with a rocky reception at launch due to bugs and online server issues.

Other classic Star Wars video games have seen new life on current systems over the past year or so, many of which were released during the controversial Prequel era. 2002’s Star Wars: Bounty Hunter was remastered by Aspyr and launched in August, allowing players to step into the armor of Mandalorian mercenary Jango Fett with enhanced graphics and updated controls. Before that, Star Wars: The Clone Wars was released on PlayStation consoles, bringing gamers into the titular galactic conflict as Jedi heroes like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Mace Windu.

Cal Kestis’ story may be ending in the Jedi franchise’s final chapter, but that doesn’t mean Star Wars Soulslikes should be finished indefinitely.

Now Aspyr is bringing another fan-favorite game from the Star Wars Prequel era to current-gen systems on January 23, 2025. Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles is being remastered for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC (via Steam), Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X with updated graphics, modernized controls, and all the unlocked levels, playable characters, and versus and training modes from later re-releases. This new version of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles will cost $19.99.

Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Remaster Release Date

Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles was one of several licensed Star Wars video games released in the wake of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, and featured a mix of platforming and beat-em-up action that took players through ten levels inspired by the movie. Five playable Jedi Knights were available in the original PlayStation 1 version, each with their own lightsaber styles and special Force-empowered abilities. Other characters like Darth Maul could be unlocked later on, and the later Dreamcast version added a multiplayer dueling mode and training missions.

Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles was met with mostly positive reviews when it was first released in the spring of 2000, though its high difficulty and control system were met with criticism. Still, there are plenty of Star Wars gamers still nostalgic for the classic Prequel tie-ins, and Aspyr is once again giving everyone the chance to experience a part of interactive Star Wars history when the remastered Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles is released early next year.
