Developer Arkane Studios has given gamers a glimpse at the star of Marvel’s Blade as part of a recent anniversary celebration. Arkane and parent publisher Bethesda Softworks announced a video game based on the legendary vampire hunter of Marvel Comics during The Game Awards 2023 with an ominous trailer showing the Daywalker tracking the undead in Paris. Marvel’s Blade is being produced in part to celebrate the character’s 50th anniversary, and will feature an original storyline similar to the Marvel’s Spider-Man series.

Like a vampire stalking its prey, Arkane has largely kept to the shadows when it comes to Marvel’s Blade following its unveiling last winter. With little else to go on beyond from what was shown in the cinematic Blade teaser, fans have been speculating on how Arkane will bring its experience from the Dishonored series to Marvel’s resident vampire-busting hybrid, with the studio’s trademark binary morality systems and visual style being seen as signs that Blade is in promising hands. There is also the question of Xbox’s ownership of publisher Bethesda, which could lead to Marvel’s Blade being exclusive to Microsoft systems.

If Marvel’s Blade is Years Away, It Should Keep Tabs on Insomniac’s Wolverine

Arkane’s Blade title may be a long time away, but that would make Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game a great source of inspiration.

As fans ask these questions and more during the long wait for Marvel’s Blade, Arkane has revealed a small look at the game’s titular protagonist. Earlier this week, the studio posted a message on the official Bethesda website thanking fans for their support during its 25th anniversary, complete with artwork of characters from Arkane-developed games like Dishonored and Deathloop as drawn by Arkane art/co-creative director Sebastien Mitton. In the background of this image appears to be Blade, barring his vampiric fangs and sporting his usual sunglasses and black leather jacket.

This design isn’t too far removed from what fans have come to expect Blade to look like from the Wesley Snipes-led movies of the 2000s and games like Marvel’s Midnight Suns, but it’s still an exciting look at what Arkane has in store with Marvel’s Blade. The Daywalker could be seen briefly in the Blade teaser trailer, and Arkane released a piece of Blade concept art back in December that shows the titular anti-hero from behind.

This newly-released Arkane Studios promotional art is probably the best look players have to date of the developer’s version of Blade, and there are a few small differences in the hunter’s hairstyle and glasses. It still isn’t clear when Marvel’s Blade will release, so any morsel of new information will surely be appreciated by gamers waiting anxiously to take on hordes of vampires as the one and only Daywalker.
