Following the success of Alien: Romulus earlier this year, fans won’t have to wait long until another branch of Ridley Scott’s sci-fi franchise comes to life with the Alien: Earth TV series approaching release. Now that the series’ first teaser has been released, the timeline of the new Alien series has finally been confirmed.
Alien: Earth is an exciting prospect for Alien fans for many reasons. The main one is that it will be the first Alien project to take place on Earth, bringing the Xenomorph threat to humanity’s home. Given the amount of havoc one Xenomorph managed to wreak on the crew of the Nostromo in Alien, one can only imagine what will happen when the extraterrestrials are unleashed on Earth. Noah Hawley, creator of Fargo and Legion, is the creator of Alien: Earth which also stars Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, and Kit Young, to name a few.

When Does Alien: Earth Take Place?
The FX series recently received its first teaser on FX’s YouTube channel, which visually is very similar to a prior teaser released for Alien: Earth about a month ago, showing a reflection of Earth in the shiny metallic skin of a Xenomorph. This time, however, the teaser also came with some new narration that revealed: “In 2120, Mother Earth is expecting.” The teaser also narrowed Alien: Earth’s release window down to Summer 2025, meaning audiences can expect the series to drop on FX sometime between June and August next year.
The most relevant piece of new knowledge from this teaser is that it finally confirms Alien: Earth’s spot in the timeline. Previously, it was believed Alien: Earth would take place in the 2090s, setting it before the events of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. Alien: Earth taking place in 2120 means that it actually takes place only two years before the events of Scott’s original Alien and more than 20 years before Alien: Romulus. However, it will take place after Prometheus and Alien: Covenant in the timeline.
Given thatAlien: Earthtakes place on Earth and is far away from any of the other off-worldAlienstories, it shouldn’t be influenced too much by the events of the other films. However, it is believed that the series may dig into more of the specifics about the Weyland-Yutani corporation and its investment in artificial intelligence. The official synopsis for the series reveals that Chandler’s character will be the main character of the series, as a member of a group of tactical soldiers whocome up against the monstrous Xenomorph. Whether they can contain the threat before it spreads all over the planet is one question on everyone’s minds going into Alien: Earth.
When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.
Alien: Earth will be the next available installment in the Alien franchise. However, a sequel to 2024’s Alien: Romulus is confirmed to be in the works, although it has no release date. Alien: Earth will, however, share 2024 with two new Predator movies, meaning monster-movie fans will certainly be satisfied with next year’s offerings.
Alien: Earth will be released on FX and Hulu in Summer 2025.
