If players save Counselor Florrick’s life in Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, she’ll appear again in Act 2 looking for Grand Duke Ravenguard. Players can’t help her directly at this point, but they can cross paths with her a third time during Act 3. Much like in Act 1, Florrick is in dire need of the players’ help.
There are several ways players can come to discover Florrick’s location. First, the party can speak to Duke Ravenguard and pass a few skill checks to learn that she’s in Wyrm’s Rock Prison, just below the fortress. Second, the party can get imprisoned and discover her in a neighboring cell during their breakout. However it happens, players should free her because she can be a valuable ally during the final conflict of Baldur’s Gate 3.
Updated November 7th, 2023: There is a ton for players to do in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, so it’s easy to miss out on some quests if players aren’t paying attention. One example comes in Act 3, when players make their way into the Wyrm’s Rock Prison. There are an array of random cells here and players who search every nook and cranny may eventually come across Counselor Florrick. To free Counselor Florrick in Bladur’s Gate 3, players will need to be resourceful and careful. To better help with how to free Counselor Florrick in BG3, the following guide has been updated with a video.
How to Get into Wyrm’s Rock Prison
The easiest way to get into prison is to break the law and allow the Flaming Fist to arrest the party. However, this can make it difficult to get back out.
Instead, players should get access to Wyrm’s Rock Fortress and then take the stairs down to the prison. The guard at the door, Breva Brightmoon, is sleeping, and players can pass a DC 15 Perception check to learn the name of a prisoner. The party can then speak to Breva and use the prisoner’s name to get permission to go inside. The party can also use Persuasion or Deception if they know Florrick is inside, and if all else fails an Intimidation check can work.
Florrick is in the last cell in the northwest corner of the prison, but she’s been feeling down since she saw Duke Ravenguard controlled by a mind flayer tadpole. The party must snap her out of it with a Persuasion or Intimidation check against a DC of 10.
How to Escape Wyrm’s Gate Prison
The prison area is isolated from the rest of Wyrm’s Rock, and the guards consist of one patrolling mage, three warriors in a break room, and Breva Brightmoon at the main door. The party should be able to handle all five if they have to, but good use of spells and abilities will get Florrick out of prison with no Flaming Fist the wiser.
First, players must unlock Florrick’s cell. A rogue can do so by pickpocketing the patrolling guard to get the Wyrm’s Rock Prison Cell Key, or by lockpicking the door (DC 15) while the guard is on the far side of the prison. Players can then tell Florrick to follow the party, at which point she becomes the temporary follower of the party member who spoke to her.
Getting Florrick past the guards is the hardest part of this quest, at least if players don’t want to attack them directly. As a follower, players can have Florrick cast spells like Misty Step, which she can use three times. This spell can be a useful way to get behind the patrolling guard, especially combined with regular stealth. However, a much easier way to get Florrick is to cast Invisibility on her, or else give her a Potion of Invisibility.
After getting past the patrolling guard, players can go in one of two directions. First, the east passage in the prison leads to a storeroom, and the north wall of the room is weak. Players can break it open using Bludgeoning, Force, or Thunder attacks. The party can also bring an invisible Florrick up the stairs to the main level of Wyrm’s Rock Fortress, where no one will try to challenge or stop her.
Either way, once the party leaves the walls of Wyrm’s Rock, Florrick will thank them and head to the Upper City. Players will complete the quest and gain one more entry in “Gather Your Allies.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now on macOS and PC, and is coming to PS5 on August 31.
