According to the latest rumors, there’s a chance that Judas, the new game from BioShock creator Ken Levine, will be featured at the PlayStation State of Play event on Wednesday, January 31. BioShock fans have been waiting over a decade for Levine’s next game, and while it looks like Judas will be making some serious strides forward, there’s no denying that it looks very similar to the BioShock series.

The original BioShock game was a spiritual successor to the System Shock series, with Levine playing a major role in the development of 1999’s System Shock 2. BioShock 2 development was handled by a different team, as Levine focused on 2013’s BioShock Infinite. Like its predecessor, BioShock Infinite released to rave reviews and is considered by many to be a landmark game release. Considering how beloved BioShock and BioShock Infinite are, it’s no surprise that many are anxious to play another game by Levine.

Levine finally revealed sci-fi FPS Judas at The Game Awards 2022 with a stunning trailer that confirmed the game would be carrying on the legacy of the BioShock franchise. Not much has been shared about Judas since The Game Awards 2022 trailer, but with Take-Two expecting the game to drop by March 2025, more information is expected to come sooner rather than later. Specifically, it’s possible, though unconfirmed, that Judas will be at the PlayStation State of Play on Wednesday, January 31.

Judas Looks Like a Successor to BioShock

It was teased by leaker Nick Baker that Judas will be at the PlayStation State of Play event, though it was not outright claimed and Sony itself has not provided any confirmation. While Sony has confirmed that a PlayStation State of Play event will occur on January 31 at 2pm PT, it only specified two games that will be at the show: Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade. The State of Play is going to be over 40 minutes long, though, and so many more games are expected to be featured.

If Judas is featured, then BioShock fans will definitely want to tune in to the State of Play. While BioShock 4 is its own thing, Judas certainly looks like it will greatly appeal to BioShock fans. It features similar first-person shooter gameplay, a starship setting that has serious Rapture vibes, and even the art style looks like a modern take on BioShock‘s distinct look. It may not be the same as BioShock 4, but Judas should go a long way in holding fans over while they wait for more information on the franchise’s next game.
