Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Devs Explain How the Campaign Was Built
In the Black Ops 6 Direct event, the developers cover the campaign mode from 1:16 to 9:20.
Woods’ expertise in covert operations remains invaluable to the CIA, while Marshall’s ability to make tough field decisions is trusted by Harrow. However, when an operation goes awry, Woods and Marshall are suspended and forced to operate rogue. They must rely on each other and build a team of rogue agents, including Felix Neumann, a technical genius, and Sevati Dumas, a mysterious assassin. The campaign also sees the return of Russell Adler, whose motivations remain unclear.
Raven Software has crafted each mission from the ground up, offering diverse methods for approach and execution. The campaign emphasizes player choice and replayability, affecting not just combat but also conversations, bartering, and manipulation, leading to varied outcomes based on previous decisions. Environmental interactions, era-specific equipment, and an impressive array of 1990s gadgets enhance gameplay depth. Players can expect both new and familiar features and items in Black Ops 6, including the RC-XD, Tranquilizer Trap, Adrenaline Stim, Homing Knife, and the Disruptor weapon.
Between missions, Black Ops 6 players will return to a remote manor house perched atop a cliff overlooking a turbulent ocean. This base offers more exploration and character development opportunities than the Berlin Safehouse from Black Ops: Cold War. Within the manor, players can engage in target practice, uncover secrets, and receive briefings from Frank Woods. All in all, the campaign mode sounds very promising, featuring fan-favorite characters and an intriguing political era. Black Ops 6 may be reinventing the shooter genre with its interesting new approach, rogue storyline, and gameplay mechanics.
