The latest update for Call of Duty, Season 4 Reloaded, includes major buffs to one particular assault rifle, the MTZ-762. The gun is popular in Call of Duty: Warzone, and through the update, it received improvements to its performance that may further boost its popularity in player selection.

In a game running for as long as Call of Duty: Warzone, updates both major and minor can have significant effects on which weapons are declared by players to be “meta” or the most popular or optimal selections for the period. Developers are also constantly monitoring weapon performance and player behavior, and will use updates to tweak weapon and gear performance, aiming to improve player satisfaction with their game experience or to shake up static metas and move overly popular picks off the pedestal. That happened with the latest Call of Duty Season 4 Reloaded patch and its nerfs to several popular weapons.

Call of Duty’s New Fried Chicken Gun Has Fans Divided

Call of Duty’s new fried chicken gun sparks a debate on whether the blockbuster FPS franchise is getting too silly and too similar to Fortnite.

Alongside nerfs to popular guns like the Kastov 762 and 545, the MTZ-762 received some significant buffs, so much so that YouTuber Metaphor declared the gun to be “broken” and an “insane weapon” in a new gameplay video. According to Metaphor, the buffs improve the MTZ-762’s “TTK” (time to kill), allowing players to take out enemies more efficiently. Players who can master the MTZ-762’s recoil using skill and accessories will be able to take out people “across the map” while still retaining strong performance at medium and close range.

MTZ-762 Receives Major Buffs in Latest Call of Duty: Warzone Update

The Call of Duty Season 4 Reloaded patch notes show that the MTZ-762 received improvements to two key attributes: Its Max Damage Range and Near-Mid Damage Range. These attributes raised the Max Damage Range from 19.05 to 25.4 meters, while its Near-Mid Damage Range was upped from 40.64 to 48.26 meters. This means that the gun will do its maximum damage from farther away, as well as experience lessened penalties to its damage output even outside its most effective range.

Metaphor also recommended a loadout to slot in alongside the best MTZ-762 loadouts. Metaphor’s recommended loadout uses items like the ZEHMN35 Compensator and Bruen Pivot Vertical Grip paired with the MTZ-Precision Blackthorn Barrel to improve players’ control over the MTZ-762’s “tiny bit” of recoil, the better to maximize its hard-hitting power and newly improved range.

  • Barrel: MTZ-Precision Blackthorn
  • Underbarrel: Bruen Pivot Vertical Grip
  • Optics: JAK Glassless
  • Magazine: 7.62×51 30-round
  • Muzzle: ZEHMN35 Compensator

While the MTZ-762 is not yet considered a meta weapon in Modern Warfare 3 or Warzone, that could change thanks to the Season 4 Reloaded Update’s buffs. More shakeups to the overall meta are expected as more players test out various combinations of weapons and gear.
