One Cyberpunk 2077 player discovered a trick for bypassing locked doors by forcing enemies to open such entryways for them. Their discovery could help fans circumvent many in-game checks tied to the Cyberpunk 2077 attributes.

Unlockable doors in CD Projekt Red’s hit RPG come in three varieties, including those that can be forced open by passing a Body or Technical Ability check. Other than that, Cyberpunk 2077 also contains entryways that require hacking a nearby console or access point. That particular challenge is indirectly tied to the Intelligence attribute and its accompanying skill tree.

And while there’s no known method for circumventing those hacking requirements using the game’s mechanics, it turns out that there’s actually an alternative to passing Technical Ability and Body checks attached to many locked doors found throughout Cyberpunk 2077‘s Night City. Recently discovered by Reddit user skama16 after more than 150 hours of playtime, the technique takes advantage of the fact that enemies in the game can move freely through most environments, so forcing one close to a locked door can prompt them to open it.

By far the most reliable way to do so is to sneak up on a combatant, grab them, and then let them go in front of whatever door the player is unable to unlock by passing an attribute check. Consistently repositioning enemies in this manner will still require an investment in the Cyberpunk 2077 Body attribute, which directly affects chokehold duration times. It’s also advisable to scan characters before ambushing them in order to ensure that they don’t have the ability to break free from a grab. High-level enemies with red skulls above their heads will do so automatically.

Make sure you exit the room before the door closes, or else you get stuck inside.

Nevertheless, the effort can easily be worth it, as underlined by a brief video demonstration of this technique that skama16 shared on social media; the 50-second clip saw them maneuver around a sole enemy for a bit, before successfully leveraging them to get into a room with a container packing four Legendary items and over 4,400 credits. The player later highlighted how time is of the essence for successfully employing this trick. “Make sure you exit the room before the door closes, or else you get stuck inside,” they explained.

The trick itself apparently wasn’t completely unknown to the fandom, as several players reacting to skama16’s tip claimed to have previously discovered the same method on their own. However, a way to bypass many locked doors in the game is of much greater value right now than it was just a few weeks ago, not least because the massive 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077 made attribute checks scale with player level, thus making them much more difficult.
