Behaviour Interactive confirmed that the popular 2v8 game mode will return in Dead by Daylight with notable content and gameplay updates this November. This updated version of 2v8 features new playable Killers, maps, and more that will make the beloved Dead by Daylight mode stand out from its previous iteration.

The Dead by Daylight 2v8 game mode made its debut on July 25 and remained available until August 15. Originally, the mode was planned to stay within the game until August 8, but positive reception from Dead by Daylight players convinced the developers to extend the initial run by exactly one week. Head of production Stefan Beauchamp noted that the team’s goal is to make 2v8 a permanent mode in Dead by Daylight in the future, with player feedback from the initial run being used to adjust and improve the mode. Nearly three months after the mode was pulled from the game, 2v8 will make its return with new additions.

2v8 will make its return to Dead by Daylight on November 12 as a limited-time mode running through November 26. The updated version of 2v8 incorporates community feedback to offer more content and fine-tuned gameplay, including new playable Killers, new maps, and the addition of Active Abilities. Playable killers for the second iteration of 2v8 include The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, The Huntress, The Blight, The Spirit, and The Deathslinger. Behavior Interactive also confirmed that all Dead by Daylight Survivors will be playable in 2v8 when it returns. Moreover, new 2v8 versions of the Yamaoka Estate and Grave of Glendale maps will be available in the limited-time game mode, along with other maps for the mode’s existing Realms.

Dead by Daylight Brings Back 2v8 for Limited Time Starting November 12

  • Available until November 26
  • Eight playable Killers: The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, The Huntress, The Blight, The Spirit, and The Deathslinger
  • All Survivors will be playable
  • New maps, including 2v8 versions of Yamaoka Estate and Grave of Glendale
  • Survivors will receive Active Abilities and improved Unlock Abilities
  • Four Killer Classes to choose from: Shadow, Brute, Enforcer, and Fearmonger

To even the playing field in 2v8, the Dead by Daylight developers will introduce Active Abilities for Survivors, along with improved Unlock Abilities. Guide, Medic, Escapist, and Scout Survivor Classes will have access to two unique abilities, and Unlock Abilities have been upgraded to provide a unique perk per Survivor Class. These perks are available after being sent to a cage, giving players the chance to turn the game around for their fellow Survivors. Active Abilities will charge over time and may be activated to raise and repair broken pallets, boosting repair speed bonuses, and instantly recover from the Dying State.

Killers will have four distinct classes to choose from, with each catering to a preferred playstyle. The four Killer Classes are Shadow, Brute, Enforcer, and Fearmonger. Shadow encourages players to sneak up on Survivors and take them by surprise; Brute emphasizes relentless attacks during chases; Enforcer specializes in finishing off injured Survivors; and Fearmonger aids their fellow Killer by enhancing movement throughout the map.

According to product director Justin Brown, the development team doesn’t want players to wait several months at a time to play 2v8 in Dead by Daylight going forward. The developers aim to keep a similar and consistent approach to 2v8 in future iterations, which means players can expect plenty more Dead by Daylight updates in 2025.
