Demon Slayer: 6 Things The Swordsmith Village Arc Sets Up For The Future

The conclusion of the Swordsmith Village Arc in Demon Slayer has left Muzan’s forces and the Demon Slayer Corps in very interesting situations.

One of the key reasons for the success of Demon Slayer has been its diverse set of characters that come from different backgrounds. Each of them has a strong philosophy guiding them towards a specific ambitious goal. Unfortunately, some of them never truly get the attention they sorely deserve, which is why they should potentially lead a spinoff manga that would help fans become better acquainted with their life challenges and fundamental motivations that have shaped their principles.

1 Sakonji Urokodaki

The Former Water Hashira Has Decades Of Experience Under His Belt

Sakonji Urokodaki from Demon Slayer

When Giyu first met Tanjiro, the latter was defending his demon sister Nezuko who had no control over her instincts. But during the fight, Giyu noticed the spark in Tanjiro which convinced him that he could become a Demon Slayer. This eventually led to Tanjiro training under the former Water Hashira Sakonji Urokodaki, who went on to play a vital role in helping Nezuko get somewhat accepted by the Hashiras. His decision to go against traditional wisdom and defend someone like Nezuko by putting his own life on the line is a testament to his magnanimous character. Although Urokodaki’s contribution to Tanjiro’s journey is significant, he never truly gets the credit that he deserves.

Interestingly, in his illustrious career, Sakonji has trained several gifted swordsmen. The fact that he has lived a long life serving the Demon Slayer Corps shows that he has experienced different eras of talented Hashiras defending humans against demons. Therefore, a spinoff manga featuring Urokodaki could be intriguing as it would show how the Demon Slayer Corps has evolved over the years, while also introducing Hashiras of previous generations. Furthermore, fans can witness what Sakonji was like in his heyday, which is a treat in itself.

2 Muichiro Tokito

Mist Hashira Is A Serious Combatant Who Is Sometimes Unintentionally Funny

Muichiro-Tokito-Mist-Hashira-Demon-Slayer

Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito is one of the only two Demon Slayers in the present generation to become a Hashira in just two months after picking up a sword. In the Swordsmith Village Arc, he fights Upper-Rank Five Gyokko single-handedly and manages to overwhelm him with his majestic swordsmanship. Despite being young, his innate talent is second to none and his fighting style is mesmerizing to witness.

Demon Slayer: How Strong is Muichiro Tokito?

Hashiras are expected to be exceptional, and Muichiro Tokito still manages to rise above those expectations.

Tokito’s drive is fueled by his burning desire to eradicate demons ever since they killed his twin brother. His hunger, obsession, and fearlessness make him an excellent character to lead a spinoff manga that explores his untold adventures. His extraordinary fighting style is ideal to give the fans of the franchise an adrenaline rush while it would be hilarious to witness him deal with awkward circumstances with his typical air-headed demeanor.

3 Michikatsu Tsugikuni, a.k.a Kokushibo

The Upper-Rank One Is A Complex Character With twisted Principles

Michikatsu Tsugikuni used to be a Demon Slayer in the Sengoku Era, who had awakened his Demon Slayer Mark just like his brother Yoriichi. But he later turned against his peers, and more importantly, his brother, to join the Twelve Kizuki with the hopes of extending his life and surpassing Yoriichi. In the following centuries, Michikatsu trained relentlessly as a demon, becoming incredibly powerful beyond his wildest dreams. Although he is one of the oldest demons in existence, he does not become a focus until the Final Battle Arc, which also marks the conclusion of the Demon Slayer franchise.

Kokushibo’s ascension to the Upper-Rank One in the Twelve Kizuki is never truly explored, leaving fans in darkness. Therefore, a spinoff manga starring Michikatsu Tsugikuni could not only tie up loose ends but also delve deeper into his inner emotional turmoil and fundamental motivations that pushed him to pursue his twisted goals.

4 Muzan Kibutsuji

The Demon King Has Been Around For About 10 Millennia

Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji is the progenitor of all other demons. Back in the Heian Era, he was a human who eventually turned into a demon following an experimental medical procedure to treat his terminal illness. Muzan is biologically more than 10,000 years old and is desperately looking for ways to conquer the sun in his relentless pursuit of achieving immortality and world domination.

While most Demon Slayers and their prominent adversaries usually get their backstories covered, Muzan, despite being the primary antagonist of the series, never gets the kind of limelight he deserves. He is the oldest character in the Demon Slayer universe, so fans of the franchise never truly get to see the factors that have influenced his character development over the centuries. A spinoff series with Muzan at its focus could give more context to the seemingly endless demon-human conflict while also adding more layers to the Demon King’s character.

5 Zenitsu Agatsuma

Zenitsu Does Not Fit The Shonen Protagonist Stereotype But Is Perfect To Lead A Comedy-Action Manga

Zenitsu Agatsuma has barely anything in common with typical shonen protagonists who are quite confident, ambitious, and driven. His timid and goofy nature often has been a source of entertainment for the fans of the franchise for years now. But when Zenitsu slips into deep slumber during intense moments, he awakens dangerous powers within him that allow him to dominate even the strongest adversaries with surprising ease. It is this duality of his nature that makes him stand out among other talented Demon Slayers who are quite ruthless in the pursuit of their ambitious goals.

At the end of the day, Zenitsu is an entertaining character who has an inspiring backstory and can fight ruthlessly when push comes to shove. The combination of these factors makes him an ideal character to lead a spin-off manga series.

6 Yoriichi Tsugikuni

Yoriichi Is The Greatest Demon Slayer To Have Ever Lived

yoriichi-sun-breather

Yoriichi Tsugikuni is the younger twin brother of the current Upper-Rank One, Kokushibo. He used to be a Demon Slayer in the Sengoku Era and is regarded as the inventor of the Sun Breathing. His innate swordsmanship mastery coupled with the Demon Slayer Mark made Yoriichi the greatest Demon Slayer in history. He is the only swordsman to have overpowered the Demon King Muzan with relative ease. If it wasn’t for Kibutsuji’s lucky escape, Yoriichi may have even killed him.

Even at the advanced age of 85, Yoriichi fought his brother Michikatsu, who had joined the Twelve Kizuki. He managed to slit Kokushibo’s throat with one swift attack and may have taken his life if he didn’t die moments later because of old age. A spin-off manga focusing primarily on Yoriichi will be quite exciting as it could shed light on the life of the Demon Slayers in the Sengoku Era. Furthermore, it can also potentially explain how Muzan strengthened himself and his forces following his embarrassing defeat at the hands of Yoriichi. The fighting scenes will be exhilarating as well since Yoriichi is the strongest Demon Slayer of all time.
