Destiny 2 features tons of Exotic armor for each class. Hunters have some of the best Exotic armors in Destiny 2, and while most of them are more focused on The Crucible, those that are PvE-focused are equally amazing.

Assassin’s Cowl is an Exotic Head Armor for Hunter that focuses on survivability by providing invisibility as well as health regeneration. It was initially released with the Shadowkeep expansion and, to this day, remains one of the best Exotics for endgame activities.

How To Get Assassin’s Cowl In Destiny 2

How to Obtain, destiny 2, assassin cowl build

Assassin’s Cowl is a Shadowkeep Exotic and to obtain it players must complete the Shadowkeep campaign on the Hunter class. Upon completing the campaign, they will be rewarded with the Exotic, and then they can farm various activities like Legend Lost Sectors to get the appropriate roll they want.

What Makes Assassin’s Cowl So Good In Destiny 2?

Assassin's Cowl Overview, destiny 2, assassin cowl build

Assassin’s Cowl comes with the Exotic perk Vanishing Execution, which causes the powered Melee final blows to grant Invisibility and restore a portion of health and shields. Finishers and final blows against more powerful targets increase the duration of invisibility and the amount of health and shields restored.

This invisibility on demand, as well as the burst of healing that this Exotic provides, is extremely powerful — especially in more difficult content like Grandmaster Nightfalls, Master Raids, and Dungeons, making it a top-tier survivability option for Hunters.

Best Hunter Subclass For Assassin’s Cowl – Arcstrider

Arcstrider, destiny 2, assassin cowl build

With Assassin’s Cowl, players want a subclass that will give them powerful and rapidly regenerating Melee abilities. Arcstrider is the ideal subclass for this purpose. They can take advantage of Gambler’s Dodge ability along with Combination Blow Melee ability.

Combination Blow is an extremely strong Melee ability. It is a quick strike that temporarily increases melee damage when defeating a target, stacking three times. Defeating targets with this ability also fully refills the class ability energy and restores a small amount of health.

Combination Blow will provide players with health regeneration in addition to the regeneration they are getting from the Assassin’s Cowl Exotic.

Gambler’s Dodge instantly refills Melee energy when players dodge near combatants. Use Combination Blow to refill Gambler’s Dodge, and then use Gambler’s Dodge to get back Combination Blow.

The Grenade ability of choice will be the Pulse Grenade, as it will synergize well with one of the Fragments (detailed below), and Gathering Storm will be the super used in this build.

Best Aspects For Assassin’s Cowl In Destiny 2

Aspects, destiny 2, assassin cowl build

The Aspects that players should use for this build are:

  • Flow State: Defeating a Jolted target makes you Amplified. While Amplified, dodges recharges more quickly, making players more resilient while dodging, and Reload Speed is increased.
  • Lethal Current: After Dodging, the next melee attack has increased lunge range, jolts the target, and creates a damaging aftershock. Damaging any Jolted target with melee attacks also blinds them.

Best Fragments For Assassin’s Cowl In Destiny 2

Arc Fragments, destiny 2, assassin's cowl

The Fragments that should be used in this build are as follows:

  • Spark of Resistance: While surrounded by combatants, players are more resistant to incoming damage. This will grant them a 25 percent damage resistance, which is crucial in higher difficulty content.
  • Spark of Feedback: Taking Melee damage briefly increases outgoing Melee damage. This build will force players to be near enemies frequently, so this fragment will be quite beneficial.
  • Spark of Shock: Arc Grenades Jolt targets.
  • Spark of Magnitude: Lingering Arc Grenades (Lightning Grenade, Pulse Grenade, and Storm Grenade) have extended duration.

Best Weapons To Pair With Assassin’s Cowl In Destiny 2

Weapon, destiny 2, assassin cowl build

The beautiful thing about this build is that players can use any weapon they want. However, if they are looking to truly optimize the build, then a Shotgun with a One-Two Punch perk on it will be a great choice.

One-Two Punch is a Shotgun-exclusive perk that allows Melee abilities to do significantly more damage after landing all the pellets of a Shotgun shot. Since Combination Blow already deals a lot of damage, this will simply be icing on top and will demolish powerful enemies.

How To Use Assassin’s Cowl Effectively In Destiny 2

Gameplay Loop, destiny 2, assassin cowl build

The Gameplay Loop starts with dodging in front of enemies. This will activate the Aspect Lethal Current, which will make the next melee Jolt targets. Now, use Combination Blow (Melee ability) to kill a normal enemy.

Upon killing that enemy, Assassin’s Cowl will activate, giving players invisibility and health regen. Combination Blow will also refill the dodge ability and provide a damage boost for the next dodge. Dodge again near enemies to refill the Melee ability and activate Lethal Current while being invisible. Then, find the next enemy to kill, and repeat the process.

As long as players keep on killing combatants with their enhanced and never-ending Melee, the loop simply won’t end.

If there is a powerful combatant, players can also kill him with the Melee ability by using the One-Two Punch Shotgun and then following up with the Melee. The damage output, survivability, and crowd control of this build are incredible, making it so much fun to play.
