Ever since the end of the Granolah Arc of Dragon Ball Super, fans have been wondering when they will see Black Frieza again. Coming in at the very end of the arc and defeating Gas, Goku, and Vegeta all in just one hit, Frieza made quite the statement by proving himself to be the strongest mortal in all of Universe 7, since neither Goku nor Vegeta could touch him even in their most powerful forms.
Dragon Ball’s Black Frieza arc will inevitably see the remaining Saiyans come face-to-face with the monster who destroyed their species and homeland. Though the power gap between Frieza and the Saiyans is incredibly large, the heroes are working very hard to change that. The climate of Universe 7 has also changed, in the sense that Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Broly, Trunks, and Goten are all stronger than they have ever been, so let’s see what their eventual face-off against Black Frieza can look like.
Why Gohan Will Never Be the Strongest Saiyan in Dragon Ball
Despite his incredible potential, Gohan might never reach the level most fans hoped he would.
How It Will Likely Go Down
As of now, everything about the meeting between Frieza and the Saiyans is pure speculation. However, what is known is that Frieza’s current strength far eclipses anything that the Saiyans can muster, including the techniques of the Angels or Gods of Destruction. This was on full display at the end of the Granolah arc, where Black Frieza knocked out Goku and Vegeta with just one punch.
The eventual showdown would likely start with Frieza gaining the upper hand against the heroes and defeating them without any real effort. However, all the training that the heroes have gone through since their last showing will definitely bear fruit, as Goku and Vegeta’s ultimate forms may now be perfected, and their overall performance will be further bolstered with the addition of Broly, Gohan, Trunks, and Goten.
Meet Black Frieza. Achieving this form took plenty of toil, I’ll have you know!
This would be an amazing aspect of the fight, as it would finally show the remaining Saiyans of Universe 7 working together to defeat the Galactic Tyrant responsible for the erasure of their species in the first place. However, Frieza’s strength can just as easily be far superior to theirs, seeing as how many in the Dragon Ball community believe his recent power-up puts him on the same tier of strength as Beerus,
The most probable way for the Black Frieza arc to play out is the villain getting the upper hand initially, defeating the Saiyans with relative ease, but getting defeated himself at the end, this time for good. However, his new powers would be meaningless if he didn’t even make a lasting impression with them. So, at some point in the fight, Frieza will likely take out or even kill one of the Saiyans, adding far greater stakes to the fight as well as delivering on some emotional beats that many fans argue have been missing from the story.
Dragon Ball: Will The Black Frieza Arc Be The Series’ Last?
Ever since the passing of the legendary Akira Toriyama, many fans have been wondering if the Black Frieza Saga will be the last one ever.
Frieza’s Powers and Abilities
At the time of writing, the true extent of Frieza’s powers is not known, since he has only been seen in a few panels of the last chapter of the Granolah arc. The only thing that is known is that Frieza’s physical strength and speed are on a whole new level that even the strongest beings in the universe can’t react to, even with special forms that prioritize these attributes.
For example, Vegeta’s Ultra Ego is predicated on strength and taking damage, but its capacity for doing so was superseded by the power of Frieza’s punch. On the other hand, Goku’s Ultra Instinct is all about speed and finesse, instinctively dodging all damage that it comes across. However, it still fell short as Black Frieza’s speed was far greater than anything his body could react to.
The Saiyan’s Power and Abilities
When looking at them all together, the Saiyans have quite a varied arsenal. With Ultra Instinct, Goku has the perfect defense as his body reacts on its own to all threats that it senses, whereas Ultra Ego gives Vegeta the ultimate offensive capabilities by taking all the damage that he receives and making him stronger with each hit. The prospect of a fusion between these two can form the perfect warrior!
Gohan Beast doesn’t have anything specific under his belt like the other forms, but is just incredibly powerful in all regards, as he was able to match up to Ultra Instinct. Broly is very similar in that respect, as his latent potential is close to Frieza’s since he surpassed the power of Super Saiyan Blue in his first proper fight. Though Goten and Trunks are far away from this tier of strength, they can further their training and increase their power by fusing into Gotenks!
Dragon Ball Super: The Granolah The Survivor Arc, Explained
Set after the events of the Moro Arc, the Granolah arc adds many new additions to the series and brings the story of the Saiyans full circle.
The Ideal Ending For This Arc
Ever since Frieza’s return in 2015’s Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, and then again for his recruitment for the Tournament of Power, fans have been of the singular mind that no one deserves to put the Galactic Tyrant to rest more than Vegeta. Even though all the Saiyans have lost their homeland and species to Frieza, none have it as a central part of their character development like Vegeta.
Ever since his first appearance, Vegeta has shown immense pride in his Saiyan blood and lineage. He stood to inherit the title of King of the Saiyans, but Frieza came in and destroyed that dream, something that he remembers to this day. Though he has grown as a character significantly, he simply cannot forget the gross injustice that was done to his people by the Frost Demon. He even believed his destiny was to be the legendary Super Saiyan warrior and defeat Frieza for good.
However, it was Goku who achieved this form and avenged his race, not him. This was a bitter pill for him to swallow, as he had dreamt of being the one to defeat the menace who had taken everything from him but could not do so. Because of this, Vegeta carries the mindset that there remains unfinished business between him and Frieza, which is why he should be the one to defeat the villain once and for all.
